For your second unit I would suggest the Incubi.

Just a little fancier, and a STRONG HtH unit. Dont forget the Raider X-port.

Great advice this, especially considering that really NICE models in the DE line are few and far between.

If girly elves are your thing I'd go with eldar instead. Much nicer range, codex better suited to 5e, and also VERY importantly...

....NOT NIGH IMPOSSIBLE TO TRANSPORT. (raiders are notorious for breakage and are a pain to store anyway)

That being said, if you still like the line of models, dont care about competetiveness (losing games) and dont plan on traveling enought for the models odd shapes concerning carry cases...more power to you!

From what I hear, DE tend to do better at tournaments than how infrequently they're even seen would suggest, so they may not be that weak...

However, I DID just pick up the Eldar Warlock that has a very feminine-shaped body. I'm trying to build an equal-opportunity 40k army...

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Hi Roze, fellow Dark Eldar player here. What attracts you to the army?

The way I see it, they are one of the oldest lines of miniatures out there and, frankly, are due for an upgrade. If you just want something to paint and play, then go for it. But there are better looking armies that are easier to play (Dark Eldar are one of the deadliest armies out there but it takes a lot of practice to get good with them).

Feel free to paint them pink. Actually a pink and black army may look pretty stunning.

just an idea here (ill try it in a mo on an old model)
undercoat silver, then pink and light purple washes over that.

might give a sparkly pink / purple effect

now im bloody hooked on pink DE o.o

ok, after some playing about with silvers pinks and purples ive found its no use trying to wash over silver, just looks like gak to be honest.

so i got bored and came up with a random pinky colour:

all i did was:

undercoat white.

water down some tenticle pink then mix 75% of that with 25% magenta ink.

paint silver trims. (optional)

paint magenta ink into any recesses and over the silver.

not sure what you will think, but it stands out a bit lol

Personaly i like plastic glues where ever possible. Of course that could be because i'm alergic to super glue but i'm not sure.

The only models i don't really like for DE on a modeling stand opint is the raider. With all the thin spindly bits that stick out it's almost impossible to find a decend carrying case for them with out the spoiler breaking

I personally had the most fun painting Incubi, Drahzar is also a kick ass model

Black is such a pain in the butt to paint well, that pink, purple, and gold might be a nice combo... or maybe silver, so you don't get the high-school marching band look.

Pink and black would be awesome. Elves who admit they still worship Slaanesh.

Roze, I'd like to say I'm fairly competent with Dark Eldar. Recently I've gotten 6 wins and 0 losses, that was within about 1 week. I would suggest that you take Wyches and stay from Helions, Mandrakes, Grotesques, Warp Beasts, and maybe Reavers.

I would suggest that Wyches and Incubi take up your main assault force, 'cause Reavers don't have the charge killing capacity to be as effective as a healthy unit of Wyches. In a White Dwarf it says that Incubi are useless and only take 2 Dracons instead of an Archon and a Dracon. Don't listen to that stuff, Incubi rule. An Archon with the usual equipment has a ridiculously good combat capability. My Archon pretty much never dies, and rips through units. Agonisers are your friends.

Hope it helps.
I hope I haven't posted too late and look a slow.

also, as far as making an army list worthy of being dark eldar... raiders. the mobility of DE is a huge strength. mobility plus all the hard hitting stuff on and inside the raiders...

i personally only play with ravagers as heavy support. talos are nice at times for smaller games, but in bigger games, 120 points for a ravager with three plasma cannons just cannot be beat. i run 3 in my lists. for my warriors, i have 6 splinter cannon, 6 shredder (yes, i did destroy 6 wyches to put shredders on my warriors) and 6 dark lances in my squads... i swap out a special weapon depending on how i feel about the others i am playing. sitting 6 raiders on the back of your table with dark lances on them, and inside is just bad news for a lot of mech armies. i run 3 squads of wyches, usually 5-6 strong, and for my HQ choices, i run 6 haemonculi, or an archon & dracon. and as said the incubi are fantastic.

also... rain dance/pray/sacrifice small children/whatever you are into for the new DE codex to come out before 2020 and not suck.
