I much prefer the second sword it's a huge improvement. I also like the psyker he reminds me of the Joker from Batman. Have you considered using him as a daemon host? To me thats what he currently looks like.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Oh, not yet. But it's a good idea, I'll see how he turns out in the end

Another update. I found these two girls in some rulebooks and decided I wanted some miniatures who look at least vaguely similar for my =I= project.

I thought it would be easiest to convert a daemonette, and this is what I've got so far:

I am not yet sure if I will go for the Sister or the Enforcer with this mini, but was still wondering if the length of the arm is about right (I know that the hand is way too bulky).

Can you give me any advice?

Ah, I'm planning on sculpting the arbite for my RT gang myself.

For the arms, they are at the right length when the hand sits about middle of the thigh when arms straight at sides. Looks like you have it about right but the bulky hand needs to go.

Cheers,

Dante

Yeah, I was planning to cut it down, but just wanted to check if the length was alright before tomorrows session

I'm looking forward to your take, judging from your other minis, it will be a pleasure to watch it evolve.

I continued with my female character, who will now be modelled after the warrior on the left side and not the enforcer (I discovered that I have a body with a much better pose for her). I cut down the arm and started working on the hand, but it looks as if what is left of the old arm will have to go as well, as I think it will be a little bit too big when I add some GS t have it look more like an arm. On the second pic, you can see the WIP weapon she will carry (the wrong way round, I just noticed). I intend to play her as a Sister of Silence.

I also gave the psyker some feet, but I don't really like what I did to them, so perhaps he will just wear a very long cloak.

Then, I added a little tube to the Inquisitor's head. I think he is now ready for painting:

Here is a shot of him with his still pretty small retinue:

I also started the Rogue Trader Gang, which is lead by a female Space Pirate. The other fighters are an apprentice pilot (he will get some flying googles) and her little sister. I want to make the rest of the retinue mostly ex-IG and ex-PDF.

As I did not like the Rogue Trader holding a pistol in addition to the gun, I cut it off and want t replace it with a hand weapon. My first idea was a fancy sword, so I searched my bits box for some extravagant weapon, but only found these two:

I think they do not really fit the style of the Rogue Trader, but don't really know what will. Perhaps I'll scratchbuild a slender sword with a nice guard. Better ideas are welcome.

I really like your conversions all round.

If you want a really cool slender sword, you might want to look at the Dark Elf Corsairs swords. Those are quite good.

But from your previous sword adventures, it seems like you have the skills to do a great sword yourself.

Keep it coming.

Good stuff here again mate. I think the second weapon goes much better than the ogre blade for the RT. More refined and a bit xenos looking too. Will she be getting any extra details to make her more extravagant or are you going for ex-guard bad-ass look?

Cheers,

Nice stuff. I really like the second sword for the Rogue Trader, I think it suits her.

Well, the first sword is actually a beastmen variant. Ogre blades are even larger

I want to give her some extras, but could not yet think of something :/ Her hair goes all the way down her back, so there is not too much space to add something. Giving her another big gun seems not too cool, either, as she is already holding one in her hands. So... I will just leave her on the table while I am doing the stuff I have ideas for and hope to get inspired by something.

Update!

First, the Guardian Sister. I finished the shield hand more or less, and will attach it to the arm hopefully tomorrow. Also, I started working on the weapon and respective hand, remodelled the chest and started the arms.

Then, I sculpted some flying googles for the Rogue Trader's apprentice pilot:

And last, I started a true-scale(ish) Fallen Angel Renegade Marine, who works for the Rogue Trader. It's not that original, but I wanted to do one nevertheless

Excellent use of the flagellant bits and very cool conversions all around. Can't wait to see some paint on these.

Really liking the step by step nature of the conversion and sculpting. It's really helpful for a beginner like me to check out how to test poses, looks, and proportions.

Definitely can't wait for you to drop in greenstuff on the Silent Sister and see how you fill out the arms and such.

Impressive stuff! I've spotted a few stealworthy ideas in there....
Inspiring, and infectious...
After looking at this (and the various other threads), it seems I'm going to catch =I=Mundaitis too! There seems to be all manner of rifraff slowly invading my hobby table...

Kinda, I believe it uses the rules of Necromunda (or Mordheim, or something else home-brewed) but instead of gangs you use characters you'd see in Inquisitor (Inquisitors, Adeptus Mechanicus, rogue traders, etc etc.)

It's whatever you can think of in this magnificent 40k universe.

We use Necromunda rules, + some home-brewed stuff. And characters most people only dream about. It's high-powered, it's dangerous..... it's =I=munda.

It is Necromunda without the hive-stack origins. Campaigns often span several planets, or even several sectors, and you can expect a lot of different settings for your battles. The Necromunda scale figurines are used, which means that you can convert any old warhammer model into an Imunda model.
You can bring in characters and "gangs" from anywhere in the universe. A gang might be the crew of a rogue trader, the retinue of an inquisitor, a group of renegade Kroot off to seek vengeance, or whatever you can imagine.

It is excellent. ^^

But to return to the topic at hand. I absolutely adore your gs work. Particularly the goggles!

Alright, after repeated requests of some paint, I thought I'd share this super-early WIP pics of my Inquisitor's Retinue.

I did not manage to paint too much, just a little paint to see if my envisioned colour scheme works.

First of, Inquisitor Aurelius Primus of Ordo Hereticus. In real life, the gold stands out in a hideous way, but I hope it will work out once the surrounding areas are highlighted and the gold got some shadowing and highlighting, too. I am planning to give him a dark, pale skin tone.

Next, my Sister of Silence Psyker Killer. I think I'll paint the C'Tan Phase Sword like a force sword, with either green or purple bolts flickering over the black blade.

And last, a new member of the Retinue, sneaky Informer Girl Melissa. She killed one of the Inquisitor's retinue (that's where she got the bolt gun), but Aurelius was clever enough to keep this little devil and not splatter her brains all over the place.

So, tell me what you think! I suppose it's a little different to the usual approaches, but I hope it will be gritty and =I=munda-ish in the end.

For everyone who's interested in my painting skills (which are not close to most of the other =I= people), you can check out this thread, which features all my pirates. I have them on DakkaDakka as well, but wanted to take some proper pics before uploading them to the gallery here, so the latter thread is incomplete.
