I have a stupid question, when you freehand stuff like that, do you use a brush? or something else entirely.

The big skulls were done primarily with brushes, but for the tiny lines and details on them and especially on the Warriors' skull faces, the skull on the Archon's right shoulder, and the skull on the Incubi Master's cloak, I used a micron pen.
Did you all catch the difference in skull designs between the raiders and ravagers? Both those skull designs came from the DE codex.

The blending looks nice on them. Can you post your blending colors?

I did the flames totally freehand. And frankly I was surprised at how easy it was.
Just make a flame shape with 'blazing orange' then touch up the edges with the background color (black in my case) to make it wispy/curly. Then make a smaller flame in that with 'fiery orange', then another inside that with 'golden yellow' and another with 'sunburst yellow'. I didn't use any blending techniques. With color that bright, the eye blends it by itself.

The 400 bases you have supporting it now are really ugly and seriously detract from the vehicle. Those bases were the first thing my eye keyed on when looking at the pics of it

I know. Those bases are pretty ugly, I'm just lazy. I used to carry these things around in a shoebox with no padding. I got yelled at a lot for that until I bought them a worthy carrying case. Any ideas for how to make a better vehicle base?

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
By the time they scream... It's too late.
