I think you confusing gore with realism. Yes people bleed in real life, but just because there are red sprites does not a good game make, or very realistic. It's like saying Street Fighter is a better game because the backgrounds are based on real places and not fake dungeon sets.

Not really. Watch some k1 or ufc etc. Headbutts, elbows and knees cause bleeding, much less so punches and kicks.
