AFAIK It's something I came up with for the debate, but seeing as 'truth' is subjective (Not to be confused with fact), 'true crime' is also subjective. However, I think my example is suitable for what I mean.
Yes I know they are, but I keep runnin em through those mazes anyways.

The idea is that it takes extra effort and time to write properly, and they’d rather save the time. If you can still be understood, what’s the harm? While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Yes, Pakistan tortures. It's a bad thing when that happens.
Again, the answer is to improve the judicial practices in the country. Progress has been made (far too slowly, but there has been progress).
But the argument about 'these people don't want civilisation' is out and out racist poppycock.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Cool, it's an interesting way of differentiating the two. Maybe a bit dramatic, but this is the internet.

I'm talking about Taliban supporting thugs. They are very clear in articulating that they do not want a western society. I said "a lot of people" not all. Also, where has progress been made specifically in Pakistan? Last time I checked, Taliban militants had captured the Swat Valley which is only one hundred miles form Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Remember, we're talking about borderline failed states. Even if the leaders of these nations wanted to enact social change, they lack the power to do so. These countries cannot be reasonably held to the same humanitarian standards as first world nations.

Wait, are we talking about Pakistan or Iran? Because the original incident occurred in Iran, but then I mentioned Pakistan as a reference to where this is really common. Now if we're going to talk about progress in either country then we're going to have to be clear about exactly which country we're talking about.
If we're talking about Pakistan, then the answer is that yes, in this specific area progress has been made. There is a point in women going to the police to lay charges, and courts will follow up on the issue. This is quite seperate to the issue of political control of Pakistan, where a minority of the population (around 20%) is able to assert considerable power thanks to an ineffectual government.

Paper? Check
Ready for notes.
Seriously, I wish eye-for-an-eye was a more common punishment. I mean, how many rapes would happen if the idiot new that someone, somewhere would be waiting for him with a 3 3/4 inch pipe?

Similar crimes happen in the UK too.
It is an aspect of extreme traditional Islamic culture, which is not religiously determined but arises from a general misogynistic world-view combined with a religious excuse to justify continued persecution of women.
