I think it would be nice to have a superheavy Battle Tank. This is why I'm planning an orca dropship conversion to make a Tau Super Heavy Tank.

Its gonna take a while to scrounge up the money for materials but when it's done it'll have the Classic Tau clean look which is something that Titans just don't have in 40K.

I'm planning on grafting a Forge World twin-gun Hammerhead turret onto the Orca. I might just modify a Skyray turret too. Will have to see how they look. It'll be armed with twin Heavy Railguns. Then drill for missile pods and maybe run some under slung Ion Cannons or Long Barreled burst cannons.

There are no rules for such a model so I'd probably proxy it as a Tiger Shark.

I'm waiting for the day when GW will create the Tau Voltron because nothing says greater good like five different people making one giant robot.

Doesn't matter what it is or what it is intended to do. If you add a chainsaw to it then it is instantly better!

That was just a trick of perspective.

I guess if you wanna look at it that way, still looks like a massive suit to me.

I could see the tau using a titan. I just bet it would have a Jet pack it could use, similar to the eldar titan, but with a more move and shoot vibe. Like maybe give it a bunch of medium guns, then like a huge frickin railgun, and it can either act like a broadside and fire the railgun, or fly around and pop heads.

If your looking for justifying fluff, a Tau Titan could also be an older design from before the Tau mastered anti-grav, the technology that lead to the Manta. I do agree, however that tacticaly they don't add much to the Tau method of war.

On the other hand, you could also just 'borrow' the Eldar's titan rules for Apoc.

A super-heavy skimmer, such as a Baneblade sized Hammerhead, does make more sense, Particularly if desigined to still fit in the main hold of a Manta.

That would require it to have the same height as a Hammerhead, but more mass? AKA, the pancake tank.

OMFG giant squigoth vs giant knarlac, rumble of the century... and as I stated before, I dont imagine them using even warhound sized suits, something slightly smaller maybe, like a suit that gains the monstrous creature status.

Something along those lines could be fun, give it like 4 hard points, or something IDK

Other then having no reason to increase their ws & I, that seems pritty good to me. 4 hardpoints, always have Targeter & Multi-tracker, may take multiple of the same system. You could even get away with bumping the Str up to 8, but I'd take away monsterus creature - you don't want it to be to good in assault.

Damn, now you got my modeling itch up again....

I would have to agree that the mobility would be much too limited. Take a look at this thing though, it's sweet. Maybe if you make this thing hover, but even then it would be a stretch. http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/3504-picture%20with%20all%20heavy%20weapons%20mega%20death%20machine%20%3A).html

If you want a bit of fluff for when you deploy said cool model you just made (assume that model's yours).

"During the Demasicus crusade, the Tau suffered greatly at the hands of the Imperial Titans, dispite the latters low mobility and large size. In the war's aftermath the Fire and Earth castes tried several different methods to even the odds the next time the Greater Good came in to conflict with the super-heavy warmachines of the Imperium. The Series VII Combat Walker was one such method. Although the design was determaned to lack the nessisary mobility to be fielded on the front lines, one prototype was created, and during [name of current game] the etherials ordered it re-activated, least this critical battle fail."

Yay for made up fluff.

Indeed, you can make up believable fluff for almost any situation if you truly want to. In the interest of fun, it may be prudent to do so.

I must also say "Yay for made up fluff. "

A tau Titan would probably be a bit too much like Optimus Prime or something. This brings to mind a cool idea for a Transformers themed Tau army though. that would be so sick... having all the Crisis suits looking like transformers...

The Eye of Terror

It would be a mobile, floating aircraft carrier.

Piranhas, fliers, crisis suits, and other things would be transported on top of it.

Troops would be transported, and live, in the middle area.

Vehicles would be transported in the lowest part, which can open like a Manta to allow the vehicles to fly out. This is how Fire Warriors would deploy.

It's armament would probably something along the lines of Railguns all around it in mounted positions, crewed by Fire Warriors, some Ion cannons as defensive weapons, and some giant flamers.
