And M-16 > S&W .357 mag
thats because 1 is an assault rifle, the other is a pistol.
G36c / G3 > M16 on pretty much everything.
the AK beats the M16 on everything except accuracy lol.
allthough, if you want the ultimate rifle then barett (maker of the .50 sniper used in iraq) have started to make a rifle.

I'll agree that G36 G3 beats the M-16 but the Ak-47 doesn't beat the 16 on everything but accuracy
The 16 has superior range, is about 1/3 lighter, is manufactured to a higher standard and is only slighty more accurate. really the AK only beats it in round size and power.
EDIT:
And i'm going to change my statement about the G3/G36 after reading a little more about it, besides the sights it's about comparable to the 16 although it's more expensive than the 16.

you didnt take in the fact that the AK doesnt technicaly need pereodic cleaning, and is more accurate without training, and look at the price! id damn expect the m16 to be better than the AK, its alot more expencive!

it depends on where the AK was made, the AK47 spetsnaz is just as good when it comes to range, but it is alot more brutal with the sheer damage caused by each round.
its slightly more accurate than a basic AK, but not a great deal.
also, weight depends on what mods the guns have on them.
another note on AK's
the smaller model (AK74 or AK-u) are ment to be the same as MP5's, allthough once again, they fire the same rounds as all AK's, but at a higher power, and the accuracy is actually pretty decent.
EDIT:
and is more accurate without training
gotta call that one up
an AK isnt too accurate to start with, due to the high kick from them with recoil any one using one without training would have a hard time shooting at anything over 40 feet away.
i would rather be shot at by someone with an AK from 100 yards than someone with a M16 (both without training)
also, the basic "iron sights" on the AK are pretty poor quality and are usually a few MM out. (doesent seem like much, but over distance its pretty bad)

Every rifle requires constant cleaning, not cleaning the AK-47 reduces it's accuracy by a significant amount. Something from accurate at 300-500 yards down to 150 yards. So i did consider the fact that an AK needs to be cleaned. M-16s are accurate from 500 to 800 yards with a little training.
The myth of the AK being more accurate without training is just that, a myth. Just about any rifle is accurate at ranges less than 100 yards. Without training your not hitting anything beyond 150 yds.
The reason the AK-47 is so inexpensive is that it's made to a less exacting standard than the 16, it's also made by a variety of countries using a variety of materials.
I'm also not sayikng that the M-16 is the best assault rifle in the world. I'm just saying that it deserves a little more credit than it gets.

didnt see that part there, but i agree with dagger on the cleaning part.
if your unlucky enough to be in the british military then you get stuck with SA80's, which pretty much are mass produced pieces of gak.
they tend to deteriate pretty fast once they are 1st fired, and require constant cleaning, even the smallest fault in them will cause it to jam, or the rounds will drop off short.

i do relise that all gund require regular cleaning and mantanance, but what i ment is the the AK is slightly more tolerant of it, thats all. i am by no means an expert in guns.
i like the way most things on the offtopic turn into a gun rant or a tutrle pie spam,

one in the same pretty much, the kalash is pure russian if i am correct, and also has a slightly adapted sight as standard.
its also built to a much higher standard.
if you want to go down the path of guns with little or no accuracy (in the case of small ish guns) then the uzi takes top place (followed by the ZMG counterpart) and also the project 90 (AKA - P90) follows pretty close, but both make up for accuracy with a stupidly high rate of fire, allthough the small round size tends to reduce its damage alot, which is why most elite units these days use either an MP5 or G3 for shorter ranged combat.

purple, the AK suffers even worse than most when not cleaned
due to some poor quality ones they need alot of cleaning.
the better quality the gun is, the less effect a missed clean here and there will have on it.

Barrett M4-68
thats what the jammy SAS / SBS and possibly marines get to use soon :(
stronger than any other assault rifle, 100% effective through most combat surfaces, light weight, just as accurate as its .50 sniper brother
and it looks pretty sweet
EDIT:
what gloc are you on about?
the new glock pistol is one of the most robust guns about lol.
Edit 2: im off now, the missus wants something.

While the Barret M4 is nice, it's really just an improvement on the M-16/M4 design.
In fact it uses the same lower reciever as the M16/M4. But the round is significantly better than the NATO 5.56mm.
I'd like to say the US marines would be getting this sometime soon, but that's wishful thinking as we haven't even all changed over to the M4.

Seriously, anyone who likes to believe that a buckler will stop a bullet, may I direct you to my local firing range, complete with 3/4" solid steel target plates with holes bored straight through them. Not to mention the force of the impact breaking your wrist, even if you were somehow absurdly lucky enough to catch the bullet with it. Guns are successful precisely because they can deliver the same or even greater killing power that a sword can inflict, instantly, across great distances. There isn't a comparison. And none of this, "if I took you by surprise" bunk. You could kill a man with piano wire if you took them by surprise. It isn't a basis of comparison, unless you want to consider that a bullet can take you by surprise from a couple hundred yards away.

Also, in reference to the strength of a katana blade, I believe on the show Weaponmasters they fired a bullet at the bladed edge, and it split the bullet.

Yeah I've seen that too, very interesting. It really gives you a sense of the amazing metalwork that goes into crafting a katana. I have a great deal of respect for the swordsmiths that dedicate so much to their craft. The blade actually stood up to , IIRC, 4 or 5 direct .50 cal hits before breaking. But I respect the katana for what it is, and don't try to hold it up to some standard of nerd glory it was never intended or destined to hold. People that do strike me as delusional goobers and offensive to the socially inclined.
