For Chaos Warriors my votes go;
Best: A tie between Chaos Knights and Warhounds, they're a bit like an inverted smartie, soft chewy outside, hard crunchy middle. Unlike an inverted smartie they are an extremely good combination and work very well together with the hounds shielding the Knights from nasties for a turn or two then peeling off to hunt warmachines or mages or such (or just tie up table quarters, I'd say in over half my games my hounds make their points on capturing/denying table quarters alone).
Worst: Demon Prince of Khorne. You pay for the powerful magic character but don't get one! What a deal!
For that matter Khorne got completely boned this edition, anyone who wants to be a purist is either resigned to losing some games before they even start because the opponent is a magic powerhouse or has to make compromises and take some scroll caddies...
I like 7th WoC don't get me wrong but there should be some incentive for using a purist army. Even if it were just something small like 1DD per Khorne marked character in purist Khorne WoC.

Lizards:
Best - EotG. No AS stuff makes priest cry, but hes a mage with Large target 2+ AS and is only hit on a 6 with shooting. US10 terror causer with D6+1 S6 impact hits. Oh, and unstoppable 2D6" range D6 S4/5 hits int he magic phase, to everything in or out of combat, no AS. ouch.
worst - Razordons. Wow, so on a 1/3 charge on stand and shoot i eat my unit? nice.

Nice list Chaoslord Just 2 thoughts from me ... Best Unit, Period: Flamers, with hydra as close runner up Most Failed Potential: Forsaken (should be skirmishers in a list that wants skirmishers) - Salvage

Boss-
Re: Forsaken- Would you cut frenzy off those guys? Frenzied skirmishers would be kind of tough to use. But I agree in principle- make more sense as skirmishers.

Bretts
Worst: Questing Knights
Got worse after GW nerfs for cavalry. No real reason to take them over Knights of the Realm who have the same strength on the charge, have normal initative, a 2+ save and are cheaper. For a few points more you could easily have a unit of Grail knights.
Best: Grail Knights
Like Knights of the Realm on speed. Or more accurately with +1 WS, +1 S, +1 A, +2 I the ability to accept challenges, magical attacks and being Immune to Psychology.

No no no no no,
bretts
Best: Pegasus knights perferably led by a lord on hippogryph
2nd; knights errant with errantry banner
Worst; either peasent bowmen, mine have hardly ever killed a thing, and get killed far to easilly, or, and i know i will recieve boos, grail knights, reasons for this include, for an army that wont be slaughtered through outnumbering or magic you can hardly afford any, and at £30 for 5 they arent well priced, theyre never as good as people think, and theyre basicly overinflated koftr, seriosly i only play brettonians and even in a massive unit they dont make as big an impact as if you had bought 3 or more units of knight errants.

Deadly Tomb Guard
In ur gaem, killin ur doodz.
|
Brets
Best, Pegasus Knights
Worst, Questing knights
only get +1 str from their great weapons now, and the (lack of) new lapping rules makes them even worse. Use the points you save on buying another unit of Knights Errant)
Tomb Kings
Best Heavy Cavalry. These guys are beasts, properly armed, and protected the'll be carrying 500 points of banners around with them
worst: Tomb Guard. Super expensive and go down like cheap hookers to your opponents best unit. All in an army that depends on outnumbering and fear... Good job.

agree with a few but here´s my pics for armies I play
Tomb Kings
best - tough call but i´d have to go for scorpion. can bury to take out warmachines or for an easy flank/rear charge. as good or better than many characters in combat too all for only 85 points.
worst - fast cav. don´t have the advantages of fast cav (as in being fast and fleeing ability) and can´t hit hard.
Wood Elves
best - treeman ancient. big tough and stubborn. great anchor you can secure your army with
worst - eternal guard. too slow and doesn´t fit in with the overall theme of the army (a ranked unit in a skirmishing army).
Skaven
best - ratling gun. if they get only one shot off in a game they usually pay for themselves. S4, -2 armour save very reliable (for skaven). coming in a close second though i´d have to say slaves. cheap and expendable and versatile. perfect for skaven.
worst - rat ogres. too expensive for what they do. only advantage is they can be taken in units of 1.

Orcs & Goblins:
Gotta agree with whitestagg on Da Boyz as the best for the greenskins, though night goblins come a close second if for all their sneaky tricks. While both units are easily outclassed, the cheap cost alone more than make up for their weak stats.
Worst- well, they all pretty much have some role in the army, though compared to other fast cav in the game, spiders are pretty weak (though i use them for their "wall crawler" ability).

at 65 points they take far more than one shot to pay for themselves. The edition change hurt them a huge amount. They are simply not worth the points anymore (unless you know your opponent has no ranged attack in which case they are still gold).

I dread to think...

Vampires (IMHO):
Worst:
ZOMBIES!!!! WS 1, S,T, Ld all 2, I 1... great meatshields though. And at 4 pts a pop..
Best:
blood Knights, Varghulf or von Carsteins: all stupidly good, all Vamps, and most can take out Stegadons in a turn or two of combat.
This might be wrong, as i haven't actually got the army book. Its just my opinion from what i've seen on the web.

HEY! I got some love!
I haven't played Fantasy since 5th ed, but I did run Khemri and Dark Elves.
What I remember about my units:
Khemri + bound spells = ftw
Scorpions were awesome as well.
I liked the look of Ushabti - especially when they first came out - but points wise I'll take the scorps with chariots.
For DE:
This whole model range I found to be awesome, especially with the new set-up that came out with 5th.
Best units:
Not sure how they work now, but Assassins were brutal.
Hydra has always been a good choice.
Stupidity has always been a stupid rule, but me being stupid would always take Cold One chariots/riders. When they hit, it's brutal; when they don't, not so much.
Looking at playing again with Drycha and all WS army.

WE:
Best: Dryads are an obvious pick. Skirmish, S+T 4, 2A, ItP, (kinda) ward save.... all for short points. Hard to not pick them. Runners Up: Treeman and Alter Noble
Worst: Scouts, period. I was going to say Warhawk Riders, only because I had completely forgotten about Scouts. Lose Glade Guard Bows *and* cost more points... really? Runners Up: Warhawk Riders and Highborn.
Dwarfs:
Best: Organ Gun. While it eats a rare slot, their isn't much competition there, and two of them is just disgusting. Runners Up: Miners (with Anvil) or Thunderers
Worst: Slayers of any kind. (character or otherwise) While Unbreakable is awesome, in a sea of 4+ AS units, ever shooty units targets these guys... Runners Up: Rangers or Iron Breakers (IB are good, but outclassed by Hammerers)
