If you trade one KP to destroy/cripple a valuable enemy unit you hinder your opponent's ability to get KPs from you as well.
A lot of people seem to think that having a large number of KPs in your army is automatically a hindrance in KP missions, and while there is some truth to that, you win KPs by getting more KPs than your opponent does, not by having less KPs for your opponent to get.
I play Eldar and CSM, and if for 65 points I could get the same character, I would take him every time I was writing a list to win.
