Thats exactly right though, the ISTs are scoring units before anything else, and they will have less effect on a game in terms of damage output than a unit of vets. If you need a cheapo scoring unit, ISTs are where its at. If you need somethingt hat can do both, Vets are where its at. It comes down to the points you have and the intended role of the unit. I will most likely end up with a unit or two of ISTs in my list because I'm really starting to feel that a 4th scoring unit is ideal, 3 is just a little bit thin for those 5 objective missions.

I agree definitley I made a slight adjustment to my list last night and played a quick game against my own Vulkan Mech Marine list, the extra troops riding in the Valks made all the difference in the world. That was just one game, but it solved my biggest weakness.

We will have to see how they work over the weekend with some serious playtesting games.

guys...you have been a tremendous help i really appreciate it. Im going to get in a few games with the last list i posted. IlL post back and tell you how they went. Tactics are going to be a little weak since i havent played my guard in some time. and its a big difference from my Drop Pod Vulkan/Iron clad list that ive been playing since the new codex came out.

Plus i see you guys are testing vs certain lists. I have a pretty hard Vulkan DP list i can post for you to test against.

I am going to post it in my battle report of last nights game against my Vulkan Mech list. Then later tonight I am going to put the three variants of my list that I am most interested to try with a poll as to which list everyone thinks will be the most effective.

Of course I have to catch Star Trek on the IMAX again since this is the last weekend it will be on the Super Big Screen so it might not be until tomorrow.

so i take it you were able to beat your own vulkan list?

Khornatedemon and i played tonight. Very tight game that went 5 round. If we played further it was pretty anyones guess who would have won.

We played loot counters with 12" deployment. we each wound up taking 1 objective each and the third we ech contested the 3rd.

Very good game. For me the MVP's were the Hydras. Pretty much did damage the whole game. The Vanq didnt do too much in this game. I made some targeting mistakes. Master of the fleet Had nothing to do since reserves werent an issue. The phycer chior had limited impact due to fighting marines.

Overall the list works well. Im not sold on the Auto cannons and i might ditch them. Plasmas might only be needed in 1 squad. Meltas just seem so much more versitile.
