Are people reading page 64 of the rulebook?
The process of firing at a vehicle squadron goes as follows:
1. Roll to hit
2. Roll for armour penetration using the armour value of the facing of the closest visible vehicle.
3. Allocate glancing and penetrating hits like you would normally allocate wounds to a squad.
4. Make any cover saves available, ignoring other members of the squadron.
5. Make damage rolls for any remaining glancing or penetrating hits. Remember that while two or more vehicles remain in a squadron that Immobilized counts as Destroyed (Wrecked), and Stunned counts as Shaken.

Some people are getting hung up on step 3 because for a unit of identical models, you don't allocate wounds "normally"... or at all.
But the example pretty clearly shows that you just treat any vehicle squadron as a complex unit, regardless of whether the vehicles are identical or not.

The only time it gets dicey is in large volumes of penetrating and glancing hits as you are by the rules suppose to not allocate until each member has had one allocation.
I think that people just say oh I can divide them up however I want but the rules actually state how you must divide them and what process.
I think that is what confuses people.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated. |

There are a lot of strong arguments here. If I wanted to focus fire my tank squad vs another tank squad, it seems likely that the rules would not support this because only special rules allow the isolation of members in a unit. However, If my opponent wanted to focus the incoming fire on one tank when I wanted a spread, the rules don't support this either.
I see it like infantry units shooting each other. A volley of fire is unleashed and that volley hits the entire unit. Who is hit is allocated evenly through the unit and the receiver of the fire (IE - 3 hits then 3 vehicles are all hit) it is ultimately up to the receiver of the volley to choose where the pens and glances are allocated.
So, I would say, as long as all of the hits where evenly spread through the unit, the receiver of fire can choose what pen and glance goes where.

The way it's played in my area, and I think this follows the rules;
I have a squadron of 3 Killa Kans.
You shoot, and do 3 pens, and 6 glances(for simplicity)
I now have to allocated 9 "wounds" to 3 Vehicles, which amounts to 3 each.
So, I put the 3 pens on the first model, and then 3 glances each on the other 2.
I believe this satisfies the rules, as it would be the same for an infantry unit. If you wanted to drill it down to a singular instance. I would allocate 1 pen to vehicle 1, 1 glance to the second one, one glance to the 3rd. Now no model has taken a 2nd hit/effect before they all have one. Then I would just start the process over again, untill all effects have been handed out.
Is that pretty much what you guys think/do in your games? Just trying to make sure I'm not missing something.
