Please remember forum text is speech not prose. We are having a conversation not an exchange of letters but have to do so through the keyboard.
You will find that spoken English and written English are two different things, a double negative in spech gives emphasis. So sentecnes can begin with because or and, and doubled words can be used. As just shown.

Like wuestenfux said, the Autarch is not very good alone in 5th and needs a squad for protection. Shining Spears are very expensive and are also vulnerable as a smaller squad. If you are paying this large amount of points might as well get a seer council on Jetbikes for slightly more points.
An Autarch on a jetbike is nice to run with a seer council for extra punch though but you usually skip the reaper launcher in that case.

Dis-irregardless, I'm just starting an eldar army and was wondering if an Autarch or another HQ choice is the recommended way to go for smaller games while I build up my points total.

Well, the best way to field an Autarch is to mount her on a jetbike and let her accompany a squad of Shining Spears or Jetlocks.
A footslogging Autarch is questionable these days.
You could give her a melta and let her accompany Fire Dragons. But Fire Dragons are one-hit wonders. When they disembark and target a tank, they will eventually die from return fire.

@ Scherdy Starting out dont take an autarch, take a farseer instead. Farseers are far more central to most eldar lists than autarchs and the flexibilty of a farseer is immense.
Autarchs work in some eldar lists but they are far less common than the good old dependable farseer. Psychic powers tend to tip far more combats than anything else in the eldar list.

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k). |

I've taken to using shining spears with an autarch with laser lance (reaper launcher optional; I don't use) combined with a unit of 4 shining spears, Exarch with starlance. This unit, when making use of the Turbo-Boosters rule and fortune, can usually soak up the shooting from an entire army as long as you're outside rapid fire range (jetbikes should never be close enough to be rapid fired by every member of the closest enemy unit). My experience sees such a squad, when fortuned, losing at most two models if the enemy concentrates fully on them, and that at the very worst.
EDIT: I just can't help myself. Irregardless is actually a word, though a non-standard one, as it appears in the dictionary and occasionally in everyday speech. It may officially be used to add emphasis quid pro quo "regardless."

This is the ideal that I'm looking for in this unit, hard hitting and relatively tough to take down. Unfortunately, losing two models in a squad of this size can break the unit and dedicating Fortune on them means that you've got a Farseer, presumably on a bike as well and most likely in the unit or with it's own jetseer council. That's a lot of points in your HQ... What point level are you running this combination at? I'd guess around 1850-2k, but if not, what does the rest of your list look like?
I've been trying to make a 1500 list for local tourney play using 5 SS w/ Exarch and Autarch w/ Lance and Fusion Gun as a core, backing it with a small seer council of 5 locks and a Fortune/Doom seer, but there's not too much room for troops and heavies after that. I think I went with a 6-man guardian bike w/ Embolden lock and two cannons, a 10 man DA squad in WS, and a holofield Prism. That's not much in the way of troops and while I could split the guardian bikes into two squads, 3-man units are brittle...

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
