Ork Turn 3:

Ork Turn 3

The shield of slugga boyz that surrounded Weirdboy Snikshak were disappearing quickly as the humans quickly shifted their firepower towards his mob in the open. Thirteen died in a matter of seconds from the wall of lasgun bolts that fired into their ranks. Each boy scanned to their left and right, and even though they couldn’t count, they knew there was fewer boyz than what they started with, and that fact caused them to turn tail and run. They did fire back at the lone sergeant who was chasing them with his chainsword while yelling something about his emperor. His righteous anger was his undoing though, for he was tossed backwards a great distance by the large bigshoota rounds that struck his chest. Although Snikshak and the few remaining boyz were running back into cover, he still had a massive amount of psychic energy that needed to be released and it came out in a loud “Waaagh!” It echoed through the valley and was heard even over the sounds of war, but the pressure and pain in his skull was still unbearable.

The shoota boyz on the battlefield could hear the Weirdboy’s battle cry and were filled with bloodlust. They glared at the guardsmen and charged forward repeating the same words, “Waaaaagh!” They fired their shootas and charged into the Storm Troopers that had just finished off Snikrot and his Kommandos. During the furious charge they managed to engage the Autocannon Heavy Weapons Squad as well. They were caught off guard and were dead within first seconds of the assault. The Stormtroopers put up a better fight, but still lost three to the orks mad charge and began running for their lives.

The boyz and grots guarding the air tower could see the oncoming humans moving to attack, but they followed their orders reluctantly and stayed put. Nob Hedsmasher could see the Imperial Guard soldiers sneaking around the Mek Shops, but he also caught a glimpse of ten flying shadows. Could it finally be the fearsome Zagstruk and the infamous Vulcha boyz?

IG turn 3

Major Stryker's first platoon was all but destroyed by the initial wave of Orks, but his men had rallied and re-taken his right flank. As the Orks in the middle ran for cover on the far side of the air strip, they fired wildly at the lone sergeant chasing them. His tattered and ruined body fell backwards with the Emperor's name on his lips. "Damn." Stryker said under his breath.

It was then that the Orks came again. This time they didn't even shoot thier crude guns, just hollering at the top of thier massive lungs. They clashed with the Stormtroopers and the two autocannon teams from 2nd platoon. The autocannon teams were out in the open and had no chance against the Ork's close combat attacks and were cut down. The Stormtroopers faired better, only loosing 3 of thier number, and fell back to get another shot at them.

But, as they fell back, they changed thier minds and turned tail to fight again another day. The fleeing 1st platoon squad with the flamer went with them. Stryker couldn't yell loud enough to get them to come back and now his command squad and 1st platoon's command squad and 1st platoon's remaining heavy weapons teams were all that was left to hold the small hill.

The battle hardened Major only hoped that 2nd platoon would accomplish thier mission as they moved on the orks flank. The Master of Ordnance's fire mission did no damage to the Orky horde. The remaining autocannons, the missile launcher squads, and the command squad fired everything they had at the orks who had compromised the Guard's right flank. The Orks fell, but there wasn't enough killed to get them to run. The Major told his men to hold, as the Orks would be upon them in moments. Lt. Jorgenson's 1st platoon command squad moved into postion to threaten the Orks that were nearly upon the Major's position.

On the flank, 2nd platoon turned the corner and appeared in perfect postion to catch the Orks once they came rushing off thier objective with thier rapid fire weapons. If they could thin thier numbers enough before they got to them, the 2nd platoon just might get the objective and the airfield would fall to the Imperial Guard.

Sorry guys and gals. Real life has been kinda rough the last week. We'll try to get to it this weekend.

Ork Turn 4

With a unique mechanical movement Zagstruk’s legs moved him methodically back in forth in front of his stormboyz. With his shoulders pulled back and his hands held tightly behind his back, the flying stormboy boss of da vulcha boyz spoke loudly. “Boyz the battle haz begun. Da stuped mekboy mey or meynot be out der, but right now our duty iz to protek da aerfeld.”
Zagstruk stopped and turned sharply towards a stormboy picking his nose. He unholstered his special slugga and shot him between the eyes. With a thud the ork fell backwards with his finger still lodged. Zag said angrily, “We dunt have time to be pecken our noses, ye hear?”
He continued his solid pace in front of the boyz. “Now lesten up, we goin to kill sum ugly, wimpy, huumies. Fire up yer rokkits and prepare to fly on my command.”

With his back facing his boyz, Zag flipped the switch controlling his rokkits and glanced over his shoulder and yelled, “Waaaaargh!” Each boy repeated the war cry and shot off into the sky sporadically bouncing off of each other. Several ammo runts fell to their deaths as they lost their grips in the sudden burst into the sky.

The flying orks lost two in the uncontrolled landing, but the Vulcha Boyz led by their unforgiving boss, Zagstruk, came down fast and hard upon the guardsmen who were making their move towards the ork air tower. Within seconds of the assault the power clawed legs of Zag tore into the ranks of the humans, killing most of 2nd squad 1st platoon. The rest of the boyz cleaned up.

Nob Hedsmasher and his boyz ran over the hill past the tower towards the guardsmen. They couldn’t get them this turn, but next turn they will finally get to bloody up their weapons.

On the far side of the battlefield, holding his head in pain, Weirdboy Snikshak Dakazod continued to run towards cover, while the shoota boyz finished off the missile squad hidden in the trees.

I wasn't concerned for the orks...

i play orks, usually horde style and rarely have less then 120 troop models on the board. When someone leaves a killzone like that in the middle they usually do it because they want to shoot the crap out of my orks and think terrain would benefit me most by provide cover.

I usually point out to them that with the number of models running at them I could care less about cover and clarify for them that I was suggesting more terrain in the middle as an equalizer to slow my ork down so maybe they ALL don't assault you turn two...

Regardless, great batrep...

Thanks for the reply.... hey no problem dude.... i agree totally with ya. I'm a crazy player.... i just charge across the board like a madman.....when I play the marines I like to use a little more strategy, but with orks it is all reckless abandon or perhaps WAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!

IG turn 4

Lt. Lopez's 2nd platoon all stopped short of the objective once the rokkit pack wearing orks and the slugga boyz all appeared right in front of them. They were roaring and shooting in the air. Lopez ordered a massed fire volley from 3rd squad. Hopefully the squads rapid firing lasguns would thin the ork ranks. Just then, 1st squad disintegrated in front of the young lieutenants eyes. Flak armor and helmets with gibbering bloody heads still in them flew in all directions as a massive nob and his rokkit boyz fell upon them. None of them stood a chance and the whole squad was torn to ribbons in seconds.

Lopez turned to his vox operator as the young man pulled his las pistol. Lopez grabbed the reciever and called. "Lopez to command...We need immediate artillery support...bring it in danger close. The Orks are right on top of us, sir."

The snap-freem of mutiple lasguns rapid firing filled the vox's reply, "Lieutenant...we copy...we'll send you what we can, but you are going to have to take that objective with what you have...the Orks are in our lines and there isn't much we can do. Over."

"I understand sir. Lopez out." Lopez tossed the mic back to his corporal. "Looks like this is it boys." He raised his powerfist and ignited its power source, sending rippling arcs of energy across its battered surface. "For the Emperor!" he screamed and began his charge with his command squad toward the rokkit boyz who had decimated his 1st squad.

The Master of Ordnance had heard the call of the young lieutenant over the vox and he called in his supporting fire, but its shot went wide and did nothing but hide the orks bearing down on the 2nd platoon with a haze of dust from the explosion.

Lt. Jorgensen's 1st platoon command squad barked a cheer in the name of the the Emperor and charged the charging orks...which caught them unawares and the officer slew many with his roaring chain sword. His men fought gallantly but two of the fell in the fighting. The medic seemed to be killing and saving with every stroke of his blade and scapel. The orks stood, but they were quite a few less.

Major Stryker seeing that the battle was about to turn...one way or the other...prepared his men for the eventual assault. "Either we win this here and now, or we hold what we've got and dig in. Jorgensen is the best swordsman I've ever met, but there are too many orks for even him." he said as he drew his power sword and bolt pistol.

Just then, a call from 2nd platoon came in over the vox. It was Sergeant Daniels of 2nd squad. "Command, come in!"

"We hear you, go ahead." Stryker replied.

"Sir, the lieutenant...he's...he's gone sir. The Orks are coming and we can't stop them. Our lasguns are having little or no effect. We've killed a few...but they keep coming...oh by the love of the Emperor. What do we do sir?!"

Stryker took a deep breath and gave a terrible order. "Sergeant, tell your men to fix bayonets and to fight for all they are worth. The Emperor is with you. May he guide your blows and steel your soul for the fight to come. Remember the objective and I know you'll do what's required of you, Sergeant. Command out."

Ork Turn 5


The pain was unbearable. The Weirdboy suddenly stopped his obsessive flee across the airstrip. In pain he bent over and caught a glimpse of himself in one of the hundreds of blood puddles that dotted the battlefield. He couldn’t help but see the glowing in his eyes. He had seen it before, but it was in the eyes of his former master. His head began to swell to nearly a third of its normal size. Once again, he recognized it as well. He knew what was coming and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. A sudden sound of cracking bones filled his ear drums. The final two boyz with him quickly turned and stared at the Weirdboy who was kneeling over in pain holding his head. Just as they were about to turn and run, Snikshak began to scream and he suddenly jerked his head back and with a massive burst, his head split apart into a thousand pieces. The "Eadbanger" killed the last two remaining boyz and left a silence on the battlefield for about a half second.

Chainswords and screams could be heard over the hill towards the Air Tower. Human commanders were screaming orders over the sounding chaos of battle. Close combat continued across the battlefield. Numbers were dwindling on both sides and only time would be the messenger of the victor.

IG Turn 5

Major Stryker turned to his aides and saw the horror in thier eyes. 1st and 2nd platoons of E Company were nearly wiped out to a man. Blood pooled around the bodies of his valiant soldiers where they lay next to the stinking dismembered bodies of the dead orks. While he had held his ground, the price was far too steep. Many Imperial commanders would pay no heed to the cost in men for any objective, but Stryker's men were highly trained in grav chute insertions and the art of the air mobile assault and he held them in the highest regard. It was probably why he had only assaulted the orky airfield with two platoons instead of his whole company. These men who bravely held on only to die in the parched dirt on this far flung planet would never make another jump in service of the God-Emperor, beloved by all.

The young Major bellowed to his few remaining men, "With me, men! For Cadia!" The command squad replied, raising thier pistols and knives, "For the Emperor!" The major's command squad flew down the wooded hill and into combat with the orks who were tangling with what was left of 1st platoon's command element. Only Lietenant Jorgenson was left now, his chainblade parrying more blows than it inflicted. His arms and left leg were ripped and bleeding profusley, and as the Company Command Squad fell upon the orks, the angry lieutenant fell to one knee, bowing out of the fight. As the orks were cut down by Stryker's assaulting men, they broke and began to flee. The Major stopped his men, and told them to get to a defensive position.

Stryker knelt down beside his friend, Lt. Jorgenson. "We got them, Daniel. Lay still. You did a great job out here today."

"Sir...I have lost my whole platoon. There is no one but me." he said as tears welled in his eyes. "No one but me."

"Don't you worry, son. 2nd platoon will be making for the objective and then we'll get some reinforcements in here."

Jorgenson didn't reply. He only shook his head and then passed out. Stryker had his medic tend to the lieutenant's wounds. "Get me 2nd platoon, and be quick about it." the major ordered.

"Sir, I think they are gone...I've got nothing but static. Not even a carrier signal, sir."

"Damn it. There wasn't that many orks over there. How could a whole platoon just be gone?" he asked himself. Raising his magnoculars, he peered across the smoke strewn battlefield. He could make out some Cadians fighting hand to hand with huge orks with rokkit packs. He knew those boys were doomed, but one fought on, refusing to go down.

"Looks like its just us now, boys." He wiped the ork blood from his face and took a deep breath. "Call in the extraction team. We aren't going to take this airfield today. We might deny them use of it, but we can't hold it with a single autocannon team. Damn."

Captain Antonius..... that was well written! Great turn 5 report.

Ork Turn 6:

With the headless body of the Weirdboy lying motionless on the battlefield and the sounds of war slowing fading Boss Zagstruck finished off the last remaining guardsmen that had bravely attempted the capture of the ork air tower. He turned and looked at the last remaining vulcha boy and spoke with a grin, "Well our deed is dun, da battle can wait anuther day. Der will alwaz be humie blood to spill." He flipped his activation switch and quickly flew over da hill to continue his search for the lost mekboy. The orks were barely able to hold off the human assault on their ork air tower, this may have been a major accomplishment, but they failed to take the Imperial guard's ammo crates in the woods. The last of the shoota boyz turned tail and ran away from the guard command squad. This being so..... the orks were too weak to continue the battle and were forced to reluctantly await reinforcements.

Hey everyone I finally finished my side of the battle report. Now we just have to await Captain Antonius.

Oh.... I just played with these orks... not the exact list of course at a local ard boyz tournament and placed 2nd. Will be competing in the semi-finals. Hope I do well.... I'm not taking the weirdboy to the semi-finals... he cost me the win in the prelims.

IG Turn 6

Major Stryker's Easy Company had been devastated by the assault on the Orky Airfield. Both 1st and 2nd platoon had suffered extreme casualties. There were a few wounded, but all of them out of the fight. All that remained of 1st platoon in the fight was a lone autocannon gunner. As the Major's command squad withdrew up the hill toward thier ammo stockpile, the fleeing orks sprayed the hillside with murderous fire, thier laughter interspersed with the DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA of thier big shootas.

"Is everyone ok?" the major asked his men. They all replied in the affirmative...all of them that was except for the autocannon gunner. His lifeless body still sat at his position, hands on the firing handles, but his head above the jaw was missing. The orks had done what they could not do in an assault, kill the last trooper holding the objective.

As the desert air turned cold with the withdrawl of the sun's rays, the howl of the 182nd's 1st Air Assault Wing's valkyries could be heard. The Major told them over the vox to strafe the airfield before they came in to pick them up, just in case of any orky attack. The orks had withdrawn and abandoned thier airfield. To be sure, they would return. Orks aren't likely to just give up valuable resources like this.

Major Stryker and the 25 or so living souls of the whole assault force boarded the valkyries and headed back to their temporary lines. There would be another fight, that was for sure, but it wouldn't be today.

Thanks you guys for reading the battle report and putting up with the long drawn out conclusion. In the end, the Orks won, but only because I didn't have my one lone autocannon gunner alive at the end of his turn six. Had I gotten my 4+ cover save for the one wound they put on him with a big shoota as they were fleeing off the board, it would have been a draw. Next time, we'll come in with more armor support, namely in the 1st Air Assault Wing. I've got three of the little guys and I'm ready to put them to work in the name of the Emperor!

Thanks guys! It was a lot of fun writing the battle report. It does add something to the game when you can imagine what is actually taking place during and in between the turns.
