Well, now it´s official. I am totally stuck in the painting...
I wanted to abondon the paint scheme I have used for the rest of the army (drybrushing catachan green, camo green, rotting flesh and bleched bome hight light).
I wanted a brighter rotten white tone with green and brown spots... The wing I am testing on looks more like a skeleton..... Anyone have any suggestions for color choise?
/Martin

Well, I am quite unhappy with the resuslt so far, as I wrot in my previuspost. I took a picture with my mobilephone just befor I ran to work. I am testing the color choises on one of the wings. Its basecoated in catachan green and I have only painted the "arm" part of the wing.
Any suggestions? I really need some inspiaration now.... It look like a skeleton to me... not rotten fesh as I tried to achive...

Well with the cuts in the muscle id suggets going with red. chaffing flesh if you add a veyr light green wash after your all done it will alos look infected. Maybe make some of it dribble down onto his shoulders as it drips from his wings or something..

I finally found a picture on FW site that has similar flesh coloring that I am going for.
I will test on the other wing when I get back home...
I will drybrush (heavy) rotten flesh, then adding flesh wash, orgyn flesh, tharka green wash and baal red wash and maybe devlan mud into different areas to obtain a spectra of different shades on the rotten flesh... maybe even a blue wash to obtain bruises on smaller parts...
Comments?

Its looking great so far, though the paint right now is a bit boring, when you pick out all the detail that you put on this thing, it'll look amazing.
And I agree with Golga, put some fleshy red and dark pink in the wing, and then wash it with a brown to help integrate it with the rest of the model.

I think you have made very smart choices while designing this model. Your face lacks expression but I see no problem with that.
Your paints are actually my favorite part. The primary colors are a bit pink but an extra coat of wash and some dry-brushed highlights can take care of that easily.
I took a few minutes to find a picture that I feel suits what you are trying to accomplish with your paints, don't worry its tame. I am actually surprised how hard this was to find, I avoided rotten.com and went with a Halloween or prop mask for my stomachs sake. Rotting flesh looks different for everything so take the opportunity for artistic license.

Your left leg wound is amazing mate, If I would recommend one thing it would to be more of this throughout the model. Some pus in certain areas would be nice; those pit things like popped zits or something are a good example. The tummy is really kool... heh demon tummy.
At this point I think you know exactly what you are doing quite honestly. Any more drastic changes can be made in the models future years; no reason to rush the perfection that this model could achieve with a year of insights.

Thanks all for keeping my mood up... This is the hardest paint job I have ever done.... results soo far.
The pinkish color come from bad lighting when I took the photo.
The link is very close to what I am trying to achive.
I have looked at many Nurgle DP Golden Demon winners at CMON, and must say say that their paintjob are fantatic. But all "fantastic" 10 rated paintjobs are a little too clean for rot and decay...
I can never achive their standard of painting soo I will not even try to, this paintjob is a experimnt to try and achive a realistic paint job...
How I am doing is for the viewer to dicide.
/Martin

Which bones are you refering to?
All metal parts are just painted in boltgun metal and washed black. I will add rust and highlights, he is wearing a iron mask. I have been focusing on the flesh and wounds... left to do is bruises, metal parts, leg plating and final touch up, and ofc the wings...

The horns on the head and the spine. A bit of devlan mud wash after some dry-brushed highlights should work. Sepian would be fine as well depending on what you think looks best. I think the rest of the model overwhelms the "bone" areas, as most areas seems to have a similar tone. Increasing the "depth" of the bone will give the paint a bit more balance. I think the upper left knee wound is a great example of how to do this. It might be the picture for the spine, I can't tell; it just seems to lack the depth of the left-leg wound.
Oh and the demonic tummy teeth as well.
This is a tree!!! (Causarina cunninghamia) Something like this could be cool for the "zit-pits".

Yea, ok
All bone parts have given me some headache. Bleached bone + spepia wash is almost the similar tone as the rotten flesh....
Maybe bleched bone + devlan mud wash with bleched bone + skull white hightlight make them pop out a bit. I trythat when I get home.
Thanks for the suggestions.
/Martin Automatically Appended Next Post: Wow... that tree is quite nurgly : )
I will really try to gt that look. Thanks alot!!!

Simply amazing. You have totally inspired me. You are right about the flash it obviously detracts from the model. I would like to see this model with a dull red and green lighting effect used when the final photos are taken. Super kool though, absolutely no doubt about that. I remember someone saying to get this cast to sell; that may be a very bad idea. If I am not mistaken a lot of the bits you used are still considered GW design, therefore their intellectual property. I would hate to see you get in trouble for making such a total fantastic model. Getting into magazines though... that is totally golden. You got a money maker here, don't shake it too hard.

Hey Martin
Love the paint job.
As a suggestion, if you uploaded the image to dakka you can put a full sized image up and it gives you a small one for posts. People can then open up the full sized one to see the deep detail (and zoom in).
