Unless you play at a GW store, who are so anal about it it's unreal. Hell, I know one guy who had Black Ash Waste Bases (Black Sand Basically, not sprayed black, actually black) and some newbie Redshirt was gonna not let him play because his models were not based Brown or Green. Luckily though the manager had 2 braincells and told the Idiot Redshirt to STFU. Oh and one time, I passed a Pack of MTG trading Cards to a friend (they were his, he was gonna put them in his pocket) and the redshirts threw us out.

Majority of the stores have no requirements on basing. However in terms of helping store performance it actually does help when people play with fully painted models - it inspires newbies more than seeing grey/black minis
I thought you were UK Gwaar!? all of them here are blueshirts, due to it being a UK game...ok blackshirt managers...

Hehe, I'm UK bred, but in Ireland atm I miss old Blighty and being a Limey here is not good for you.
I've always called them redshirts because... well they wear red shirts lol.
Both those Examples happened in the GW Store In Dublin tho

Ah right, each stores manager sets the rules. They;re blueshirts in the UK as this denotes the higher "rank" of being a UK employee
Have fun in Ireland, dublin is a fantastic city, if a little expensive for GBP spenders at the moment!

I think that anything with a semi-rounded base can be a drop pod, heck go ahead and throw a bottle of paint and it'd count for meh!

I thought since the doors on a drop pod don't actually count as the model for measuring purposes, if you try to shoot through it you treat it as if the doors are closed.
Or am I wrong?

There is no rule that says to pretend the doors are closed if they are modelled open.
Meanwhile, this thread is from June 2009...
