The central premise is that two average people get frozen and come back in 100 - 200 years. In that time the mouthbreathers have taken over. Basically your smarter types have 1-2 kids per generation whilst the redneck set pops em out like tomoatoes. Without the the nature's gene cleaner of predagtors on the savanna the "less competitive" types outbreed everything else.

When this average pair become unfrozen, they are the smartest people on the planet.

Oh good god...

Maybe we need to start regulating who can have children, which I would support entirely, most people I see come through here don't deserve them or shouldn't have them in the first place.

You need a licence to drive, you should have a licence to have children.

Seriously, you apply for a licence. If you are rejected, you can still have them, but get no government support.

That sounds rather brilliant, maybe we should have you and Frazz run for World President and Vice President, it could possibly work. You know if there was such a thing as World President.

But in all seriousness I agree fully, if the Fed don't support you, you don't get support for the little brats, you don't have the money to support them and are too lazy to get a job or just have addictions what good are you gonna be to the community? What good are you gonna be to the kid, they are your problem, or the Feds can take the illegal children and use them for something or put them up for adoption so people who have the license to have a kid but for what ever reason are naturally unable to have them can get one and give it proper care.

You give nothing to the community, why should it give anything to you?

That's not vaccine it's liquid roofinol.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

There was a study in the US a few years ago (probably government funded), that found people with more education had less sex. Seriously. Those with a PhD had the least, those that dropped out of high school had the most (per week or month, I forget). And it dropped at each level of education - high school, college-dropout, college grad, masters, phd. I couldn't find a link, so feel free to search for it on your own.

I blame my education for my lack of action. Not the fact that I'm ugly and have poor social skills. Or the wedding band. I go on the theory that if a woman is interested in me, there must be something wrong with her.

Dietrich according to your theory I should be getting some action, I barely passed high school because I didn't bother with it, the seemed to be no point I had nothing to prove to those people.

I would how ever assume that the cause for my lack of action is because I am a cynical, sarcastic donkey-cave.

I doubt I'll ever get any action. I'm overweight, shorter than most guys my age, and unfit. The only thing that stops people shoving me around is the knowledge that I have a gun and they don't. Somehow, I doubt having a gun would help get some fun times.

Firearms aren't an issue in any form of liberalism. It's just a product of liberal being turned into a catch-all phrase in the US that makes people think liberal has anything to do with gun control.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Except the movie ends with the main character realising that maybe it was people like him that were responsible. They just sat by idly wasting their ability. Its worth remembering that the idea of the idiots outbreeding the smart people has been around for a long time, at least a couple of hundred years, and for all that time the lower generations have been breeding faster yet IQs increase with each generation. The key thing is that intelligence isn't a pure function of genes, that access to education plays a huge part.

If society is getting dumber now, and there's a fair chance it is, it isn't because the poor are breeding. It's because of the anti-intellectualism among the middle class.

The problems with that are two fold. First up, they aren't having the kids because there's money at the end. They have kids they can't afford because they screw up. Whether there's money at the end they'll continue screwing up, it's what screw-ups do. Second up, the support has nothing to do with giving money to parents, but in ensuring the kids are given a decent chance.

And the idea of offering no welfare support has been tried, it was the defaul model for the first 100,000 years of civilisation. The result was a malnutritioned underclass and a lot of crime.

I don't think that what I thought would be implemented in such a simple way it would need obvious re-working and streamlining.

I don't think that no one should have welfare, I think that if you're just sitting on you ass doing drugs are popping out kids because you're a moron then you shouldn't get welfare. You should be doing something for the community or government, like back in the 30's.

I also support teaching people about the measures they should take to avoid becoming pregnant or getting an STD, these days are not the time to be ignorant of things like that, of course they aren't the times to be ignorant of lots of things yet people are, including me.
