I dont see a problem with playing against proxies if its a freindly game. So long as the entire army isnt made of cardboard.

Everyone needs to try out new ideas now and again and splashing out a wad of cash for something that might not work with your style of play doesn't seem like a good idea.

I say play with your proxies, see how they work in your list and if they are good, start saving for the real thing.

This right here is probably why. It's a slap in the face to people who have put a lot of work on their models. All you're concerned about is playing a game. There are certainly a lot of people that aren't interested in the painting aspect, but they'll at least throw a couple colors on the models. Instead, you've gone the other direction, to the point of not not even using a model.

Painting paper would be a not aiding me in any way. It would cost more money and take away from my savings for real models

If you spent a little more time making your proxies sturdier and make sure the lines match up and are tidy I'm sure you'll find more welcoming players.

I'm fine against plasticard proxies. Paper, not so much, unless I personally new the person.

Why is that?

I donno really, plasticard has potential as a real model, paper not so much. I've played against dreadnoughts made out of pill bottles, proxie model planes, etc. I suppose there a certain level of effort there. Just my opinion. If you were a personal friend i'd probably allow paper models to an extent. but to a stranger, probably not, unless he said im testing out certain models i may want. i'd concede to that i guess.
