I was reading the rules for the tourney the sportsmanship scores. You had to rank your games on a scale of 1-4. Apparently a few people felt the OP was their least favorite game. So there is no way to chipmunk but at the same time you cant just hand out max scores every game.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

OP wrote:The entire game, when I disagreed with a rule with him, instead of talking about it, he would just proceed to roll, or move his guys, and tell me he was right. When a judge was called at the end of the game to determine an objective that I felt he had moved his troops wrong, he lied to the judge. Every time he would roll badly (or when his dice went off the table), he would LOUDLY curse. At one point in time he rolled a one for a melta shot and grabbed the dice, rerolling it, saying 'it was going off the table'. And perhaps I could deal with all of this, except on his last turn, it was clear that it would either be a tie or a win for me, depending on if we got another turn or not, and he literally took 45 minutes to take his turn, forcing a tie for me.

Sounds like a truly miserable gaming experience. I'm very glad that you took best general, especially in the face of opponents chipmunking your score.

I wasn't there, so obviously my opinion of the event will be biased due to hearsay, but this post gets added to the pile of unrelated people finding WC members to be poor opponents. WC always has a perfectly good rationale for 'X' behavior, but when taking the sum total their conduct borders on ridiculous.

As for which awards are most prestigious, Best General really means something. Best Overall too often means that you have buddies working for you, and against your opponents.

Congrats, and good batreps.

I docked him because he had such a fit about playing another turn with only five minutes left. When we finished our game everyone else had packed up their armies and were ready for the fourth round. With four games in one day I thought that was selfish.

You docked him cause he wanted to get the crucial turn in after you sandbagged him? Selfish indeed.

That is such a load of crap. As Hod has stated you ranked the four people you played in terms of how much you enjoyed playing against them. I played his fiend the first turn and did not request a fifth turn which would have ensured a massacre for me and most likely best overall. Like I said there were several other issues including other games he played and this was why I ranked him last out of the four people I played. My other three games were all fantastic.

sour clams whatever you say about me is very biased. Who you mind butting out of this discussion?

Whatever you say about yourself is very biased. The troll complaining that he's getting trolled?

1. Was your last turn 45 minutes?

2. Did you dock him because he complained you took 45 minutes?

Like I said everyone else was waiting on us to start the final round. Are you satisfied now? Do you think I should have ranked him higher even though I enjoyed my other three games as compared to playing the OP? What do you think I should do next time?

Not take 45 minutes, ensuring that he eats a minor loss when he could turn it into a tie or a minor win?

Does that sound unreasonable to you?

Nice battle reports, its good to see Blood Angels do well. Its sad that you had to deal with a cheater in one game, I have a similar player at my FLGS. The last time I had to play him in a tourney, I gave him the win before we started playing.

For what its worth I believe the Wrecking Crew have a reputation for being TFG cheaters. I would not attend a tournament they were running.

Is that both GBF and the OP feel they were completely in the right and the other guy was the most horrible kind of TFG.

It allways has been my experience that TFG almost never knows that he is TFG, and usually feels that his actions were perfectly justified. I dont know what this says psycologically but I just find it facinating.

Big T I find you very fascinating with your big black cowboy hat!

GBF did you really check the guy's deployment with a ruler to see if it was within 12in at the start of the game?

LOL !!!

Do you expect me to seriously answer this question? The OP is obviously intent on character assassination. He said winning best general is a higher achievement than best overall... spoken just like a power gamer.

It is very easy to take cheap shots at the Wrecking Crew and something I would expect from someone disgruntled.

The last turn took at least fifteen to twenty minutes. He said he just wanted to turbo boost his attack bikes but he easily spent the majority of the turn thinking about his moves.

I didn't say you took any shots. Before I answer your question, which the answer might suprise you, what would you be inclined to think I said yes and what would you be inclined to think if I said no?

What?

How about just a "yes" or a "no"?

Wouldn't that be easier?

By all means, explain away after answering, but all this waffling is making me hungry...

The answer to your question is yes. I was told the OP had set up outside of his deployment zone. His units were within his DZ when I checked.

Wait. What?

You were told by whom?

Well so far it looks like GBF is TFG. his defense has been weak and yeah WC history is against him. Good showing to the OP at a tough event.

I'm not trying to poke you with a stick (maybe some other people are, but I'm not). I'm genuinely curious. You said you "were told" he had models outside of the DZ. Told by whom? Was it someone who was not involved in the game (i.e. you and your opponent)? Was it a judge?

Unfortunately, I have met Green Blow Fly in person and have played games against him in tournaments, and I can say I have experience the same type of things.

He is a great guy when you talk to him, and as long as you are losing your game. But once you call him on his rule interpretations or question his distances, or dare I say start beating him, he essentially forces his way. Which is a shame because he is a skilled player who shouldn't have to rely on that.

I have a story in fourth addition at a local tournament involving his rather loose interpretation of disembark distances and drop pods.

I personally have no problem with the Wrecking Crew group in general, I have had some great games against them. One of the most challenging games was at Adepticon versus Marc Parker's Speed Freaks Orcs back during fourth edition. I like the "competitive" attitude they take sometimes, and I am sure they can run a great tournament, as the OP seemed to enjoy himself.

But Green Blow Fly really only hurts the reputation of his club, when he plays games like this, when he sabotages other clubs on forums and their projects, and basically pushes for gaming enviroments that are more about keeping ideal conditions for him to win.

To the OP, I hear your pain, Green Blow Fly has long been on my list of "do not play" even if it means forfeiting a tournament game,

Normally, I would keep this opinion to myself, but I wanted to post it so that people wouldn't blame the Wrecking Crew for the actions of one man.

Mahu every time I have played you there have been issues. ... as far as I am concerned you were the root cause. I always won so I can imagine you are still feeling disgruntled and want to use this thread as an opportunity to take a cheap shot at me. I won six RTTs with several different armies the year I lived in Orlando and you can't do that unless people like you.

I'm confused. I haven't attacked you and my question is very simple. Why are you ignoring me?

Who told you his models were outside of the DZ?

Well here's an easy factual discrepancy. OP says 45, opponent says less than half that. Anyone able to back up either side?

Green Blow Fly, I am sorry that I had an issue with you deploying from your extended drop pod doors.

Please do not confuse a "cheap shot" with a genuine experience. The OP had a very good report with everyone in the tournament with the exception of yourself and I am not the only one with a bad experience.

And I am more then willing to apologize to any other poster on this or any other forum about a game that they may have had rules issues with myself. Please don't think attacking me would somehow discredit my factual experiences.

When people have a genuinely bad experience, it is sometimes necessary to post that on public forums, so that people can be warned.

I am sure someone can have a good experience in a game against you, I just haven't seen it, so maybe my perception is biased.
