Well his Gauntlets are probably Daemon weapons, so they could turn him like Fulgrim and his sword...

First played 40k during 2nd edition, missed out 3rd and 4th, and haven't played 40k since 5th edition - but still read and occasionally paint |

Are we really talking about this in painting? This should be in another forum. You can not mix codex's for any reason.

Yeah, I agree. The closest you can get is using the normal SM codex and just making them more spikey and pretending they are chaos, really.

Please report to the re-education center at 0500. Big Brother is watching you! ^ This is an obvious fail. They are right about the fluff but model wise I think it's not a bad idea. You could even make some fluff like a Daemon Posessed warp spawn was sent by the god (X) or gods to spy on calgar and learn about him and to become him. Something like that.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you |

Calgar is a hoe.
<ramble) Fluff wise, none of us should complain because this is a game that takes place in the year 40,000. Its 2009 and we have these models now??? damn i mean dominos doesn't hold a flamer to GW shipping times i mean really. In the stories space mareens(yes i know) are 8ft tall and eat lightning and excrete thunder through their little black poop suits. we use an 1 1/2 inch equivelent, there is no fluff only some rules for playing with toy soldiers. No fiction stories are determining the roles our little toy soldiers have on the battlefield, no chaotic gods, no long dead Emperors looking down on us for feeding him under cooked psyker souls, what makes the stories we read about is little cubes of power we call dice. These ancient technological wonders let my little plastic soldier become more than that. He can become a hero, or a smear on the bottom of a rhino(damn DOG rolls). The plastic non poseable captain with is shorn head and powersword held high can acomplish anything, whether it be him screaming leading from the front or him screaming and leading our 1.5" tall....er i mean 8ft brightly clad heros through dense jungle terrain completley unseen. This game is what you make of it, if i wanted to i could write a bunch of random paragraphs that have no begining or end, and is only an excerpt from a non existing story. Hmmmm maybe ill write about how the ultramareens went to a chaos planet were Calgar had to perform various circus acts wearing a tuxedo t-shirt all while pulling some nurgle deamons finger and saying "who farted" just to get his gauntlets of ultramar back from the chaos bullies, whilst the rest of the ultras get turned into the smurfs they are, complete with hats and one loose chick. Long ramble short do it, just to piss off the fan bois. This is your game you spent money on. Don't you dare have a lick of fun! I'll be watching. ></Ramble>
Ps. Who farted?

An obvious fail at what? Detecting sarcasm?
But seriously people, we're not talking about fluff, we're not talking about mixing codices. We're talking about a painting and modeling project.
Do some people really want everyone who buys a Marneus Calgar model to leave it unconverted and paint it in the same, massively overdone Ultramarines color scheme? I don't know how anyone could take such a ridiculous idea seriously. I mean fine, we don't have to still call him "Marneus Calgar" if it's a touchy subject. We can call him Joe Blow the Double-Fisting Chaos Marine if it makes you feel better about it.
But you know what would make me feel better about it? A few pics of a converted Marneus Calgar model with a kickass paintjob.

You could do one of two things play codex marines but say there just renegade and convert them how you want doesn't even have to be that chaosy. Or play full chaos and use him as Abbadon or a termi lord of soem sort.
