Hmm, interesting. To be honest, I would give my land speeders a dedicated role of tank hunting or infantry killing. IE: Anti tank = Typhoon launcher + Multi melta, and Anti Infantry = Assault Cannon + Heavy Bolter.

Of course, the frag option on the Missiles can be handy against infantry, but if it then has a heavy bolter, that is totally useless if you deside to go against tanks.

For me, the perfect 'Everything Killer' is one with a Missile Launcher and Multi Melta.

This is Daemonic Cheese:

1000 Pts (And growing)

I'd put a quote here, but XKCD would have a better one.

So, I'll probly steal my unused Havoc launchers and make some nose or wing mounted missle rack/pods for my speeders.

I agree completely, so did up mine like these.

Looks pretty cool, but it also seems like the front chassis on that speeder kinda gets in the way/obscures the shot of the typhoon launchers.

Although I don't mind the mouseketeer-look, I think Stjohn70s idea have some merit.
I would like to have it mounted in a position where the line of fire isn't obscured though.
Something along the lines of this;

The Havoc launchers are a similar size, and I was planning on doing a wing raising like steel mages.

Plan B is ditching the gunners seat and putting them there with an enclosure. And StJohn, your HB mount location solved the last part of the problem I had with using the gunner seat for the missles.

That plan also means I get away with paintin fewer pesky marines for crew...

Once I get a Squiggoth done I'll start a WIP or Blog thread on mine. I look forward to other peoples.

Oh- last minute idea- mount them on top like a baby Land Speeder WhirlWind! (this is why I usually stick with Ork stuff....)

For the new Deathspoiler pattern Landpeeder

If you fit the missile pods into the gunner seat remember to provide some kind of blast venting in the side away from the driver. I'm not sure this is the best place to put them, though. Will it not look a bit ramshackle and, well, orky to just rip out the gunner seat and jam in tube launchers instead? Can you give the gunner some kind of laser designator? Or if you want to bin the gunner altogether remount the pilot in the centre of the cockpit and totally remodel the thing?

The nose mounted HB does look rather shiny.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I set a roman candle off next to my ear once, does that count?

Besides, they're Space Marines. Homo Sapiens Astartes. If they can't take 1000 degrees of burning exhaust fumes to the face then what CAN they do?

Yes, my mounting leaves a missile blocked.
(1 and 4 being closest to the hull)
1 2 3
4 5 6

4 is blocked, 5 is partially by the footstep - which could be remedied by removing the step. I just like the look of it. And I justify it by saying that they never get to fire 6 times in a game anyways.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, I just stumbled onto it.

I used 2 (not grouped together as a squadron) in a few games against my friend's Necrons.
First game, I destroyed his 3 destroyers the first round.
Next game, I took out 2 heavy destroyers and 2 destroyers in the first round. Keeping the speeder's seperate makes it possible to target 2 different units, no wasted shots.
Next game, he focused so much effort on taking out my speeders (he views them as a major threat, as well he should) that I was able to get my termie squad (with cyclone ML) into HTH with his warriors wiping them out in 2 turns.
I modeled mine like this;

Still have some finishing work to do on the painting, but it works well.

Bottom line, I like the typhoon variant, use it alot and find it to be very effective hit and run unit. 48" missile range allows you to stand off and fire to soften the enemy up. Quick enough to rush in and contest objectives late in the game. I'm currently working on a land speeder storm to add to the force for a late game sieze objective unit.
