My word. A decent Catachan model? Who would have seen it coming?

Now if only the rest of the range looked as good as this guy, I wouldn't just buy him.

Anyway, what's this guy's story? I hadn't heard about him, then again I didn't pay much attention to the Guard rumours...

That's exactly what I was thinking! He'd be the perfect Heavy in Necromunda. I probably wouldn't even mod him.

I think I will have to add badass Sgt Harker and some veterns to my Ultramar PDF.

Since Harker and Straken are so good looking, I may need to start an IG army.

I'm suspicious as he looks quite well-proportioned compared to other guardsmen.

I wonder if there's ANY realtively-inexpensive way to build a Catachan army out of the heavy weapons and command sprues, avoiding the terrible basic infantry plastics altogether? Maybe even using fantasy Marauders heads/arms and Catahan armored torsos instead?

Maybe there is an opportunity for someone like West Wind to profit off the GW-substitute/enhancement market by making some basic jungle-fighter infantry that have decent proportions...

Oh come on, you know how overpriced the heavy bolter is.

I feel a presence of big manlove in this thread, a presence I have not felt since...a long time!

Speaking of manlove...

Okay, fine. Maybe I would swap out the weapon for a heavy stubber or something, but the ammo belt stays!

I'm tempted to replace part of the weapon with a spare classic terminator assault cannon.

Catachan Special Character, replaces Sergeant in a Veteran Squad. Gets Heavy Bolter (as you can see) and can move whilst firing. As for his "story", he strangled some Tyranids with his bare hands (which looking at those muscles, I can now believe).

I too am reminded of the old House Goliath Necromunda models, I'm sure they had a heavy bolter dude something like this, possibly that inspired this excellent new model?

He'd be great for an extra-manly HB squad - "Tripods? We don't need no tripods!" But what would be an appropriate loader? For some reason, I'm seeing a hunchback dwarf csrrying a huge ammo box on his back.

As are most of the Special Characters that GW has introduced over the years.

40K games don't represent a specific point in time. Your game can be taking place pretty much anywhere during the 10000 years between the Heresy and the 'current' time.

While the model itself is rather good I am still very disappointed if this is Sergeant Harker (which he probably is).

The upcoming Straken is everything I had hoped for (and more)
- but this Goliath-Catachan looks just like a macho heavy weapon guy, not like an officer (even considering Catachan habits).

Will buy - but probably give him a GS cap and paint a tank top.

But he's not an officer kendoka - he's a Sergeant. And like every other Catachan sergeant he has loads of muscles and is ugly.

Thanks!

Sure sounds like one hell of a beast... I think he's my favourite guard model so far, after the commisar with the powerfist and power sword from second edition.

If I see him around I might buy him, and burn candles and sacrifice kitties so that one day GW might release more catachans looking like this guy.

Bah, it lacks teeth, Harker can easily kill those blue-skinned pansies and tear their machines apart with his bare hands.

According to his fluff, he also chews glass instead of tobacco and doesn't feel pain or bleed because he thinks that such concepts are for weedier men.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.
