Game Empire Pasadena's Double-Header Tournament is coming up.
Saturday, February 13 (and every second Saturday) at 10:00am.
1850 points on the 40k side.
2250 points on the WHFB side.
3 Rounds each, usually wrap around 6:30; $10 entry or $20 GW purchase.
Format is modified RTT.
On the 40k side, players play 3 rounds. Each round is a different scenario, and between each round players move to different tables each with a variety of pre-set terrain set-ups. Battle Points are earned by winning/losing/drawing games, as well as by achieving secondary mission objectives. Players are also scored after each game, by their opponent, on their sportsmanship and army theme/composition. Each player also gets one vote each for their favorite opponent and favorite army. Votes are worth bonus points and may only be cast for a player's opponents during the event. Every effort is made to ensure players don't play on the same table twice or play against people they came to the tournament with, but it is occasionally unavoidable.
On the WHFB side, players play 3 rounds, all of which are played as a standard 'pitched battle' using VPs. The number of terrain pieces for each table is pre-set, but players alternate placing the terrain pieces before each game begins. Battle points are determined based on the VP margin between the players. Players are also rated on both sportsmanship and army composition by their opponent after each game. Again, every effort is made to ensure players don't play on the same table twice (though it is less of an issue for WHFB, given the amount of terrain involved and the fact that it is not pre-set) or play against people they came to the tournament with, but it is occasionally unavoidable.
Prizes for each side are:
Best Overall (most total points) - Battleforce or $90 in GW product
Best Army (most combined painting and theme/comp points) - $20 in GW product
Best General (most Battle Points) - $20 in GW product
Best Sportsman (most Sportsmanship points) - $20 in GW product Standard RTT format.
For the new year we've streamlined things a bit, players now get one vote each for their favorite army and favorite opponent. We rolled the Best Painted award into the Best Army award to make room for the new Best General award. We're always trying slight variations on the standard 40k missions to keep things interesting.
We use all the most recent errata/FAQ available from GW, and players are encouraged to bring a copy of relevant articles to have on-hand during games. Any rulings for contentious issues (like some of the stuff from the new Tyranid book... Mawloc, I'm looking at you!) that we are aware of prior to the event will be announced before the first round takes place.
We were one table short of capacity during the January event two weekends ago, so if you're thinking of coming down, give me a call so I know to expect you.
For the February event, we will be experimenting with 2.5 hour rounds, so please be here early so we can start on time at 10:00.

Er, whoops. While I did plan this tournament further in advance than I normally do, I didn't plan it THAT far ahead.

Plymouth, New Hampshire, April 10th and 11th:
Econocon, a low key, local gaming convention that happens every year around that time. Here's the website:
http://psugaming.wordpress.com/
edit: Traditionally, it has been a mega battle on the second day of the Con, but this year they are looking to turn it around to a more "traditional" style tourny. And if at all possible, make it GW sponsored. Updates will be posted as they arrive.
Does there need to be any more info for this to make the OP?
