here's a couple of old ones from me...
i haven't had a chance to paint any new chaos stuff, but i wish i did...
they are so cool...
unfortunately, when painting is a full-time job, you only get time to paint what gets commissioned...

these are from back when painting was still a hobby...

first up is one of my favorite sculpts ever...

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

So are you ever going to contribute to this yourself Scrazza? Or are you just going to keep Necroing it whenever it goes a month without posts?

Well he DOES have pics of his own in his gallery, but I agree, starting a thread on something, and not contributing to it with no pics, is not cool

Chaos show off thread? Guess I have to post some of my work.

For starters, I give you Ol' Reijo, one of my more "sane" Iron Warrior Dreadnoughts...

Note: I gave him the "Smiley Badge" after he blew up my Land Raider on a rare occasion of suffering a Fire Frenzy..

Next off, my Iron Warrior Terminator Champion..

Da Warboss himself, Exalted Warsmith Malach Dhar Cerberus..

Yes, that's Uriel Ventris lying eviscerated on the base. Dislike Ultramarines, HATE Uriel Ventris.

And to finish my glory ride, no Iron Warrior player would be complete without the obligatory Obliterator Cult... or two, maybe even three

The reds I used for my demons (you can see many more photos of them at my forum or at GW U.S. in the Chicago GT coverage) are as follows: Reaper Master Series Red Triad, GW Scab Red, Vallejo Model Color Red, and a small amount of a Fleshtone mixed with the Reaper Master Series Blood Red from the Triad.

The scared out of his mind Empire dude on the Screamer base is from the GW plastic Giant kit. I have the bottom half another of the bases.

Mithril silver.

Badab black wash
Light drybrush mithril silver
Baal red wash
Mithril silver to the 'lumps'
Baal red wash
x3 layers badab black to horns
Mithril silver to the areas that are non red.
Badab black x2 to sword handle
Gryphonne sepia to sword blade x2
Mitril silver edge
Gryphonne sepia
Thraka green x2 to the green bits
mithril silver teeth and claws

I did it on a hot dayand layers were drying every 3-4 minutes in the sun.
The first few layers of wash were very roughly splashed on.

Took about 45 minutes including the base.

Works great as it gives them a 'not quite right' look.

I haven't done more as I keep getting sidetracked with WHFB armies and daemons are hopelessly cheesy in WHFB.

Other angles.

The green was for unit differentiation but I'd like to go back and just do the tongue a different colour.

Without having to spend money building a light box

Use a white or (even better) pale blue background.

Take the photo in day time with plenty of windows open for natural light.

Set up a desk lamp behind your camera (pointed at the mini) to add more light.

Use the macro setting on your camera (looks like a flower) they almost all have them these days (the digital camera I bought in 2000 had it).

Use a timer if you have it

Work out where the best focus point is (usually 20-40cm) away

Get a picture modification programme (I use Picasa 3 as it is free and very easy to use, and I use it on every picture of minis I post).

All that should add about 5 minutes of work per batch of photos, but you will see a huge improvement.
