Bitter? Not at all.. I thought I'd join to set a bit of the undeserved praise straight.

Undeserved praise? You joined up just to post your sour grapes about getting the snot kicked out of you, and then going off to whine about dice rolls and proxies that frankly sounded pretty legit to me. Witches as Wyches??? OH NOES!!!! Square bases? Demon players have been doing that forever.

Trolling fail.

EDIT:

And your passive agressive retort, "I didn't want to DQ the guy because I didn't want to be that guy" is utter BS, because well, we know based on your posts here, that you already are that guy!

Its hardly BS, the rulebook says correct bases. The 'ard boys rules says correct/assembled mini's.. Demon players can break the rules all they like with their opponents permission. Just look at last years winner...

And getting the snot kicked out of me? Hardly. Took him 7 turns to barely win.. Which really is sad considering how one sided the dice rolling was.

Blackmoor plays solid and writes lists pretty well. Its a shame he didn't place in either of the qualifiers he went to. His armies are also pretty nice looking from what I've seen.

But the local "winner".. Hah. Shame he isn't allowed to play in the local indy gt (wild west shoot out), I'd love to table him some more like I have before.

Wow. Dark Eldar and Grey Knights/Sisters all in the same tournament. That's amazing. Normally it's just Vulkan, Lash, Vulkan, Fatecrusher, Nob Bikers, Vulkan again, and then maybe a little more Lash to finish it off.

HBMC: Don't believe all the internet lists coming out of the U.S. Almost every tourney I go to has Sisters and/or Grey Knights. It's not quite as bleak as you paint it. And I'm yet to actually face a Vulcan list in a tourney.

I'll concede Dark Eldar. Very rarely do I see them anymore.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

If you look to the right on the picture below, you will see another Dark Eldar player on the other table. The funny thing is that since moving to Arizona I almost see all MEQs. In fact there are so many people who play space marines when I play my Eldar and CSM I have people tell me that they have never played against those armies before. I don't know what is was, but a night time 'Ard Boyz brought out all of the rare armies.

That's good. The less Marines in tournaments the better. I get tired of reading Tournament reports here that go:

"Ok, so I took my Fatecrusher/Nob Biker/LashOblit/MechVet army to this tournament, my first round was Vulkan... my second round was a really well painted Iron Hands army, my third round was against a Shrike/Lysander/Thundershield army, and then to change it up a little I fought an Imperial Fist army where every model was expertly converted! None of my opponents even knew what a 'Tau' was."

In some ways it's kinda sad that 'Nids and later Orks became such big tournament lists through Nidzilla (in 4th) and now Nob-Bikers or Horde-Spam. It was nicer when they were armies that showed up every now and again because they were cool, not because they had a power build. I guess it just goes to show that with GW's rules, you can't have both - you have to pick one. :(

For the semi's there was a solid sisters player who drove out from California. I guess his list was nasty, and he gave some of the good locals a pasting. I wish I got his contact information.

I was surprised Charlie didn't do better with his DE, he's had that army for years and years... Since 98 or 99 I believe.

Our semi-finals had a good mix of lists without seeing too many of the typical forum builds. I can't recall seeing any nob biker/fate crusher/seer council lists. There was a couple of vulkan and a few battlewagon spam builds as well as lash/oblit spam. Most of the IG armies were pretty balanced with a little of everything.

Over-all I think the local meta-game is mostly just MEQ, with a couple of ringers tossed in here and there.

He said that he was in semi-retirement and had not played in a year. So I would think that him being rusty was the problem.

That is why I did not bother taking my camera to the last RTT. I played Blood Angels, then Shrike, then Vulkan.
