It's not a super weapon mind you, but I so love it so much more than the other shotgun weapons. Once my F3 stops crashing I'm going to restart from the beginning and build a great character that is useful for all five content sets.

My MIRV won't fire for some reason, even loaded with nukes it just clicks.

It fires in bursts of 8; if you have any less than 8, it won't fire. Of course if you have more than 8, just blame bethesda

I dunno...

If you're looking for DLC expansions, pick Broken Steel (to remove the games stupid ending) and Mothership Zeta (why? ALIENS! ALIENS! ALIENS!)

EDIT: and, be careful around GFWL, if you make an account (you have to to get DLC, achievements etc) it erases all your saved games

No it doesn't. It just uses a new folder for the saves. Just check http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki for info on how to put your saves in the GFWL account.

I got the Backwater Rifle for doing a particular quest in Point Lookout, and since my character is now 100 on all skills but Unarmed(which will be 100 when I level again) I haven't used anything else much since. It's a lever action rifle with very high damage and a good critical multiplier, but very slightly less accuracy then Lincolns Repeater. Lincolns Repeater has an average bullet deviation of zero, which means it always hits the dot of the crosshair at any range, while the Backwater Rifle has a deviation of something incredibly small like .25, so still very accurate. With the damage increasing perks you get in Point Lookout I've started stalking around the swamp, plinking the heads off of the yokels and clearing out whole camps before they realize whats up. Once I clear the map I wait 3 days, come back and do it again.

I was disappointed with the Double Barreled Shotgun when I started to use it in your first Tribal encounter. I stuck the barrel up the nose of the first tribal and pulled the trigger expecting him to explode like a Raider. Nope, he literally laughed in my face and started unloading on me with his hunting rifle. I didn't feel so great about using it after that, especially because all of the Point Lookout enemies do an extra unresistable 35 damage on top of their normal attacks. Point Lookout really pulled me out of the immersion when unarmored, shirtless rednecks could take a rocket straight to the chest and continue to fire on me like nothing had happened. Lol wut?

GoFenris wrote:Strong Back = Wasted Perk.

You can always store the swag in a locker, desk, mailbox or where-ever near the front door and fast travel back and forth.

I take it back. If you are NOT an unarmed specialist and are looking for Perks (assuming you found all the other important ones you like) you could do worse that picking Strong Back. It's like 5 extra strength points for carrying junk only!

I'm toying with my ultimate build (waiting for Arkham Asylum, Champions Online and Fallout 3 DLC for PS3) on my fourth walkthrough and am taking Strong Back to accentuate my STR of 6.

So iamthecougar, I apologize.

I have a couple of questions for all DLC veterans but first let me say how envious I am...

Can you come and go from the Capital Wasteland (or any other locale) with the DLC?

and

Must you complete the Main Fallout3 quest to play any of the DLCs?

Only Broken Steel can be fully accessed after finishing the main quest. The other DLC are available the moment you leave Vault 13, though that's not recommended if you want to get the most out of them.

Operation Anchorage can only be accessed once. The Pitt can be visited again but you'll need to play through the main story there in one go. Same with Mothership Zeta. Point Lookout can be travelled to whenever you want after doing a certain quest in the sticks.

I wouldn't go to Point Lookout early though. It's practically suicide before lvl 10, and even then it isn't particularly user friendly.

I hopped into Point Lookout right after I left the Vault. It can be quite challenging with those inbred yokels and some of the locked doors were closed to me.

I shudder to think about doing the big tribal invasion with about 150 health or so and whatever equipment I had at ~level 8.

I met my first Geiger-billy at lvl 19 when I crossed that bridge just above the hardware store. One of the larger ones with the plaid shirts. I planted a bottlecap mine (with 100 explosives and evel 2 demolition expert) and popped him with my Reservists rifle. The guy charged, set off the mine, and still had HALF HIS HEALTH LEFT. Christ.

Vault 13? Forgive me but I'm not familiar with that one. Do you mean Vault 112, Tranquility Lane?

Vault 13 is where the vault dweller from the original fallout was from, brook means vault 101... probably.

Thanks, I had forgotten that (Shame on me, it has been a few years though). I really should pick up the Fallout bundle at Target next time I'm there.

I can't wait. After so many walkthroughs I still just love this game! I think it fulfills some deep seated 'survivalist' fantasy. (Y'know, Mad Max meets Dawn of the Dead)

Mods! Mods are half the fun, assuming you've got the PC version, of course. Mostly because of this. 8D

And I agree with whoever said to explore, don't stick to the main quest, because it's ridiculously short if you do. Oh, and if you make a stealth character... next time you're pickpocketing someone, gift them a grenade in return.

^ You good sir are what the 360 version calls a "psychotic prankster", by far my favorite 10 point acheivement, btw it works with mines too.

It's a great way of letting people know you don't like them. I also like how they start cussing out loud while flailing their arms and running about.

I love that

I was.. decidedly moral about what I did in Fallout, I'm very conservative in Open World games, i.e. I'll probably never go on a huge rampage killing every citizen of Rivet, for example. I just like the 'life' feeling that pervades the cities, and it feels like a waste to rid them of being.

However, I made a new character, mainly dealing in Meds/Chems/Drugs, after watching the Bethesda 'Bad Karma' video. There was something beautiful in the anarchy -- to quote one of the designers, "I was talking to this guy a second ago, now his head's impaled on a shelf in front of me, and his arm's in an oven."

I like the swearing when they get a 'nade in the pocket. Bottlecap mines also work well, try putting every mine you can find in a room, then reverse pickpocketing a grenade into a person sleeping in there.

Sometimes when I got bored I would take out all of the many, many, many different mines I had stockpiled and make a huge daisy chain of mines just close enough to detonate like dominoes around the walkways of Megaton. Starting at the entrance, I'd shoot the first one, and well, you just have to try it for yourself. It's great fun.
