I like the dating sim idea.

But please anything but Apocalypse style WM .

"This is big news, coming soon you'll get to do whatever you want with your toys! We'll even write a $40 book for you saying as much! This is a huge occasion since prior to this book, you were only able to use your toys how we told you to. But now we're opening the floodgates and telling you that you can do whatever you want with them (so long as you buy the book!).
Want to make your own toys out of cardboard and drive them around the board saying "vrrroooom"? Now you can! You're going to need some BIG DICE and a backpack(?) to go with all of this awesome."

Not apocalypse style, but I do want a larger scale game that can run more units without bogging down like large Warmachine games do.

Larger scale battle rules would level out a lot of the abilities and make them simpler, which is sad, but required to reenact the large scale fights.

As for the game, it will be a God of War style beat 'em up most likely. If they made an RTS they would be competing with Starcraft 2, Dawn of War 2, Command and Conquer, etc, which have that market cornered.

They had images at the Privateer forum months ago that featured a Juggernaut-like Jack squaring off against an Ironclad-like Jack in what clearly looked like a sim for a combat computer game.

I think the speculation was that this was the work of another company who got Privateer's license to develop some kind of computer game for them, or at least something interactive.

Maybe/probably their upcoming announcement is related to this.

I have every NQ. I don't remember ever reading that.

Not to mention that WM was initially going to be a computer game and then they decided to go the wargame route.

There's a lot of things Privateer Press scoffed at and are now doing.

And honestly I think it was more stupid of them to have said such things previously than for them to be taking advantage of markets and interest for the game and setting now.

To be frank, a video game is a good idea. Just look at how the Dawn of War RTS games buffeted GW through a really tough time, and made the 40k universe more common among other gaming communities.

If done well, a good game only enhances the community.

Likewise, good offshoots or side games, books, etc can enhance the community and base game if done well.

I know I'm interested in buying and playing Grind with it comes out.

Duuuude, that is just wrong. Spotting an opportunity that will develop you business and adapting to it is good business sense - it has nothing to do with shallow. Realizing that a decision you made earlier was wrong and changing your mind is also a sign of good sense.

You are so off-base with the "shallow" comment. What is with us games we have to read some much into things.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

Ok, there could be a possibility that this comment was made by Urban Mammoth, however I still stand by what I said. If you make a comment that says you'd never make a computer game, that's not what it's about, it's about the models, then you are shallow.

I thought it was PP that said this as I was thinking about making up some stuff in 3d Max for myself, but I could be wrong, I will need to see if I can find the comment. Urban Mammoth are making a computer game as well, so it could be them, but I'm sure I read it No Quarter, but will double check.

Chill baby. All I said was I thought I'd read that one of the two company's mentioned had stated they'd never do a computer game. It maybe that I can't find the evidence and can't back it up... kinda like alot of the rumours on the forum, in which case you can take or leave it.

No initially you stated as fact that a specific company (PP) said a specific thing in a specific source and lashed them for being "shallow" and laughed at them in a deriding way (through your clever use of an emoticon).

When challenged and asked to verify this statement you back peddled and waffled.

As to your "shallow" defense above: I am well aware that most people that post on the interwebz are completely full of gak, but is that really a defense to follow suite?

You made a statement which may or may not be true. If it is true then you should be able to provide citation to prove it.

Sir, you take the said statement too seriously. I can almost hear a gauntlet being thrown down.

In an ideal world I would have the article to hand, but I don't. As I said I will try to find the evidence. In the meantime treat the comment as "rumour" if it makes you feel better.

I have no axe to grind, I've been a gamer for over 20 years and embrace all systems. If I'd not seen this information at some point I wouldn't be passing comment, I don't think random thoughts and stick them on the interweb to wind people up. As far as I can remember someone from one of the forementioned company's said they wouldn't do a computer game.

The reason I believe it was PP is that I have a keen interest in 3d design and was looking at some of the diagrams of the models and was thinking of making up some of the weapons in 3d. This is way it sticks in my mind. For some reason I also think it could be the original editor of No Quarter. I could be wrong.

Yup. They were the metal is hardcore just like us! guys. I thought it was a stupid stance, just like the play like you got a pair garbage. But the games were fun, so I overlooked it. Then the rules got overbloated with special rules and exceptions and new stuff just kept rolling out, piling more on. I am hoping the new edition will clean it up. Unfortunately, it also seems to radically change how my favorite faction plays, so I don't know if I will come back. On the upside, I have already gotten offers since my models are painted!

Not to mess up the great debate, but PP is big at GenCon Indy. They do their big announcements and releases there.
I think GW is too cheap to go to GenCon or they do not feel it worthy of attendance. (Please inform me if I am wrong about GW at GenCon). Hell why is GW not going to ComicCon in SD, CA. They may boost their sales a little.

I'd say it's sheer arrogance, being "top dog" of the miniatures world they probably don't feel other events are "worthy" of their time.

Either that, or the suits said that was bad for business.

The scale of the game is way out of whack. Each Faction has a few handfuls of Warcasters, at best, and yet they're commonly involved in squad-level actions. By the fluff, Warcasters should be like one per 1,500 points, not 1 per 500.

Anyone remember the Power Rangers Fighting game for the Sega Genesis? The one where you fight as a ranger against one of the monsters and the second round was always the Megazord against the Giant Monster? I can see it now. You fight a round as the Warcasters, use the Jacks as combo support like the extra characters in Marvel vs Capcom, and then the second round would be a battle between the respective Jacks the Warcasters brought with them.Yes

I wouldn't mind a Warmachine game, but I do think it's hilarious considering they keep constantly breaking their word. "Oh we'll never do plastic models, plastic is for children." And then they do plastic models. "Oh we'll never do a video game." And then they do a video game.

As for the game: 1st person off of the warcaster. You can take your battlegroup in the game online and fight it out against people.
