I know smells stronger than plastic rod.

I'll never use the stuff again after several GW flying models were left with a stump attached.

Smells? Don't use the GW stuff, get an acrylic rod. I find they are stocked alongside platic card and rod in railway shops. They come about 2/8th inch wide and in a variety of colours and they have no mould lines down the sides. I used a red one for a lightsabre on a 12" Darth Vader, but the clear rods are more useful.

So this is where I took over and started working on the model.

I needed it to have basing the same as the rest of my O&G army so I got out the dremel and filed all the detail off the top of the base.

I then stuck down 3mm cork (layered in places) and added some GW sand.

I then gouged out shallow depressions to fit in 2 squashed goblins from the giant kit and one 'night goblin hit by cannon ball from The Black Fire Pass set) for my squashed 'friends'

Added greenstuff (Very happy with the robe over the goblin from the giant kit) and ended up with the following... ready to paint.

Close ups of base:

Sorry for the pic, it is a bit hard to see thedetail.

The front:

Wider shot:

And the back. You will also see some new greenstuff at the top of the brass rod. The thickness of the plastic wasn't enough to hold it in place and he kept spinning around, so I added the greenstuff to hold it in place, and it worked.

Painted pics likely tomorrow or the next day.

Would it be dumb of me to ask where the squashed goblins come from? Are they part of the Giant kit?

I love it.

its a simple repose-type of conversion that adds a ton of character, makes the model extremely dymanic, and overall just makes me smile.

EDIT* when i say simple, i mean no frills, but it is very clean and I am sure was no "simple" task to get to the point you are at.

More squashed gobbo's needed
and maybe even a squashed squig?

Base just seems a tad bland and too wide-spread.
however, the giant looks amazing!
Great effect and im willing to bet it will be the topic of laughing in game quite often

Looking good!

I second the idea of adding... something... to the base. Perhaps a stump to partially hide the rod? Or maybe just some random vegetation? Something to draw the eye up to the rest of the model and tie the base and giant together.

I think it would also look good to have a few 'footprints' from where he's been stomping his hardest!

meant not to be ugly, but... the goblins are a little diffused in the terrain... imho, one goblin smashed against semi-sized rock could be nice

How about some a couple goblins scattering trying to get out of his way? A couple more goblins on the base would look better since the stomping is obviously action taking place right now!

Very nice.

This is a very nice conversion, great work. I hope to see it painted soon.

The ONLY thing that bugs me (besides the crotch pole... owch , what can you do though ) is the duplicate squashed goblin. After noticing it I simply cannot forget it, the pose it just too obvious to me. At this point I am not sure whether you could change it, but I would recommend snipping a leg and an arm off the goblin without clothes so it won't look so obvious. You could also melt the piece a bit and reposition the angle of the head if you wanted.

Awesome though, this is going to be a treat to see when it is done!

Wow, excellent! I like it so much better painted! I love the bloody footprints on the rock! You can definitely see the story of him gettng upset and jumping on the gobbos... I would have liked to see one whole one, in a sort of terrified pose but it is excellent as-is!

Also, the black robe and black pole blend together nicely... it is much more discrete now that it's painted imho.

The bloody footprints are perfect!

I'm waiting for the detail shots of the base to make a judgement, but I think I'd like to see some pulped organs or skeletal fragments sticking out for added gruesomeness! His finger and toe-nails seem a bit well manicured for me, too. I'd imagine they'd be a bit yellower and cracked.

Even so, incredibly cool idea and execution! I'm definitely a fan.

Wow... Puts my simple giant to shame... very nice work, thez rod doens't stand out at all, either. I'm a tad amazed at the very harsh highlighting though; I would've thought this modle would benefit more of some blending, especially on his chest. Was it made to fit the rest of your army, or is it just a style you prefer?
