I still don't see how the PS3 is even a choice unless you want the Blu Ray player.
360 = more robust online service. You get what you pay for.
PS3 = online service is still discussed in industry standards as "not quite there yet." STILL. I'd call that pretty inexcusable considering how important this is to the current-
gen consoles.
360 = many more exclusives.
PS3 = Pretty much Metal Gear and that's it...and there's a Metal Gear game coming to 360 soon. You've got the Resistance games, but there are so many
FPS that are cross-console that combine them with the Halo franchise and at best
FPS considerations are a null result.
360 = Much larger player base. Chances are most of your friends are on the 360.
PS3 = Much smaller player base. Do a poll, see if this holds true for you personally. It does for me and my circle of console gaming friends.
The only marked advantage of the PS3 is the inclusion of a Blu-Ray player, and I've never, ever purchased a console for or as a media player. If you really care about DVDs, buy a DVD player. They're not that expensive anymore, and you can get a much, much higher-quality player for not much money compared to the DVD player in the 360.
Same with Blu-Ray. You only really get a big difference between regular DVD and Blu-Ray if you are dealing with a high-end A/V setup. It's all about color density, digital audio, size of your screen, etc. If you've got a regular-ass 37" flat, widescreen, high-
def LCD and a regular 5.1 surround sound system you're not going to see a whole lot of difference between DVD and Blu-Ray when you're just watching a movie in the background with friends over or while hanging with your woman or whatever...
If you can afford the high-end A/V setup you need to really take advantage of the Blu-Ray format then you can afford a dedicated Blu-Ray player...and then you also can probably afford both a 360 and a PS3 so this whole conversation becomes moot.
But purchasing a PS3 just for the Blu-Ray, the only real reason
IMHO to get a PS3 over a 360, without owning the A/V rig to make proper use of the Blu-Ray just seems like gimping your gaming for no reason. If you really, truly have a hard-on for the PS3 exclusives then rent one with the exclusive games, play it, and return it. You'll be money ahead for doing so.
