I'd like to see the Jury that would find for the mother of an autistic child in a defamation suit over a business. It's just not going to happen, unless she knew it was false.

Not to mention that most LGS I have seen have trouble finding the money to hire staff to clean the bathroom and wash the windows much less having the funds to have a crack legal team on retainer...

I say out the scum bags and we can form an angry mob. I'll bring the pitch forks...

Especially when its fairly easy for them to find out who did it. Rest assured if anyone slandered my business (or liable if in print) Id introduce them to my lawyers, who have nothing to do but do everything they can to take every penny you have and make sure you spend as much time in jail as possible. Unfortunately we dont live in the wild west anymore, many things were much simplar a long time ago, but even in the past slandering a person or business wether they desrve it or not is VERY serious and will get anyone who does it into a lot of trouble. This is a situation that with the introduction of strong emotions can quickly get out of hand. One can very quickly find the tables turned and what is in the grand scheme of things a relativly minor annoyance (yes its wrong and makes one very angry), can quickly get turned into a major civicl/criminal case that can ruin lives. Unless you are a reporter and you are doing an in depth investigative report and are a neutral party who can back up there words with hard proof and are working for an established news agency (theres a hint here, go to a reporter, they love this stuff.) dont even remotly consider slandering any business.

Liable is to be responsible for. Libel is to defame in print.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. thats it, you came on to flame someone over a gramtical error? Wether the store has money to hire a lawyer or not is moot as is wether a jury would convict. With a little bit of knowledge and a small amount invested anyone can make someones life hell with our judicial system. For small fees, you could fing yourself tied up in court for years wasting time and money. As a matter of fact this is a farily common tactic to get people to drop suits, file motions and extensions for months if not years, make someone give up all of their financial/personal records. Now would a LGS do all of this, most likely not, do you want to take the chance over ownership of a piece of putty.

Sorry, Didn't mean to flame, per se. My apologies.

Anyway, since this thread is wandering off topic, I think it's better to close it now.
