In the recent GT final, one player used 3 GKLR's with 2 PAGK units and 1 Termie GK unit.
He was 2-1-2 which was really good as there were many good players attending the tournament.

By the way, he also won best painted. All GK's were modelled by green stuff.

As far as winning goes, that all comes with learning how to use them. True, at first I was not very good, and lost even to the simplest lists because I just went around throwing my figures, now I focus them the way they should be, and win on a somewhat regular basis, although for me, Draws are wins, since the army is very difficult.

Landraider heavy lists can be a pain in the butt.

Land Raider armies are one trick ponies.
If the tanks get popped the army gets screwed.

I usually declare I got:
1 GM plus four termie retinue, a squad of PAGK, a LR and a GK dread, and then.. I have a somewhat big enough IG army with it
Though I originally began as a IG collector I declare I have GK first, because I loved the fluff of GK's waaaaaaay better, hehehe

Haha, don't hold your breath on that Inquisition Codex. The sad part is, that I wouldn't recommend Grey Knights if you like variety of force because there isn't any. Basically if you want to win, you field as many Land Raiders as possible. You can get cool models from Forgeworld but the problem is you can't field 'em (Awesome Dreads I'm looking at you) because then you have no ability to transport your troops.

Oh well, it's up to you, but I think you might want to use them as allies first to see how they play then make your decision on whether you want to make an entire army out of them.

wow 40 models for 2500 points. That is why nobody plays them.

Forever alone

But those are 40 models with S6, storm bolters, and special weapons that ignore invulnerable saves. Not to mention the 'I can insta-kill Lash DPs' force weapons.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

You can insta-kill if the judge lets you. I don't know where you play, but here, the judges have no respect for that Slain Outright rule (Not starting a thread amongst a thread! )

Anyway, like I said, they're a tough army to play, and indeed, 40 models, that's what I brought to Ard Boyz and indeed it was Ard for me to play. Then again, I played Salamanders.. dang He'stan and his dang meltas.

In the fluff, GK's are even more elite than SM's,so I guess thats the guideline of GW when they decided how to formulate points for the models, hehehe.
So we DH/GK players ended up with fewer units.. tsk tsk tsk

Even though PAGK have S6, they still suck in assault. It's a very shooty army. PAGK are all about the storm bolter.

Considering the wording and the fluff behind it, I'd rule in favour of it 'slaying outright.' Why would GK, who are meant for fighting the forces of chaos almost exclusivly, using weapons that would be useless against the forces of chaos?

To add to that, RAW is pretty blatant.

Anyway, like I said, they're a tough army to play, and indeed, 40 models, that's what I brought to Ard Boyz and indeed it was Ard for me to play. Then again, I played Salamanders.. dang He'stan and his dang meltas.

It's worth noting that when you consider how detailed GK models are, and how much time it's worth investing in painting each one, 40 models is A LOT.
