I would allow you to use those bases just because those models are beautiful. Can't wait to see them painted.
For a solution for those who can't seem to understand it, why not take also the 40mm bases with you to games? If somebody REALLY says that you can't use bigger bases, just use the small bases to measuring etc

Win/Draw/Lost statics
Space Orks: 11/1/1
Space Marines: 10/2/5
Lizardmen: 8/2/3
High Elves: 13/2/2 and one tournament victory!
Dark Eldar: 1/0/0

I have it mentioned to me in every game I play - sometime with more vehemence than others. Targeting, range, CC, blasts, templates, and more are affected. So unless I need all 18 of my current warriors, I do NOT field the ones on squares. When I do field them, I remove them first every time so as to minimize issues.

I daresay the issue is analogous, but not the same, as the models are from Space Crusade and came with the bases.

Rippers though, make things weird.

The old warriors came on 40mm square bases, which are almost exactly the same size as the round 40mm base the current warriors come on.

Either that or I'm going crazy and these old bucktooth plastic warriors on my desk came from another dimension.

The ones in Space crusade came on really tiny square. They are at home so I cannot quote actual dimensions - but they ARE rather small - I totally understand players questioning them.
