Take the kmb and the big shoota, cut the barrel off of the big shoota and the kmb, glue the big shoota barrel on to the kmb and then add some odds and ends like a pistol on top or an extra shoota on top of the big shoota barrel, you can do a lot for lootas i actually have one thats just two of the rokkits you get with kans on either shoulder, like he doesn't even have arms, its shoulder to rokkits, i made one out of a lascannon, i basically just take boyz and give them obnoxiously large guns.

Uh...on the loota with the kmb conversion i took the big shoota backpack with the grot sticking out of it, and used that, but you can use the heavy weapon bodies that come in the boyz boxes if your not using them, and either cut the backpack straps off and fill in the hole in the back armor, or just use the backpack.

Because someone will shoot at them, they will fail leadership and run off the table, then rinse and repeat for the other loota squads. Not fun :( (You can only have 2 HQs, and only one of the Ork HQ units is really qualified to 'lead' your lootas with his bosspole and whatever gun/equipment he carries with himself, bessides, if you have a spare transport, the other elites aren't all that bad)

Not to mention that many lootas costs 675 points....is there really a reason to sink nearly half your points into lootas?

what's wrong with investing most of your points in lootas? Like there's anything scarier than lootas in ork army... even then, it's not that scary

my take on the list:

DreadLootas
1500 pts

Big Mek, KFF, Burnas, Cybork body

Big Mek, SAG

Deff Dread, 2x Mega Blasta
Deff Dread, 2x Mega Blasta

15 Lootas
15 Lootas
15 Lootas

3 Killa Kanz, w/ 3 Grotzookas
3 Killa Kanz, w/ 3 Grotzookas
3 Killa Kanz, w/ 3 Grotzookas

Killa Kanz go forward, Dread go forward, KFF in the middle give cover to everyone while being covered himself... He dies, oh well... and 45 lootas for Cover fire... or is it really a killing firepower at 1500 pts? Take it as you like...

I like the list, but you have no scoring units.

Yeah, no scoring units. You're kidding.
Other than that, looks very good.

My typical "smash all comers" list is a pretty basic battlewagon heavy list. I'm at work with no army book handy so I can't really post up a specific list but here are the basic units that I take and some of the rules that I follow.

HQ:

Ghazghkull

OR

Warboss - PK, attack squig, 'eavy armor, cybork body, kombi/skorcha

Big Mek - Cybork body, 'eavy armor, KFF, burna or PK

OR

Grotsnik

The warboss is a CC machine and is just too good for his points not to field. Ghazghkull is also a machine but he's kinda pricey. The big mek can make your battlewagons a bit more survivable but he's really squishy once you make it into CC. Grotsnik is much more durable, hits almost as hard as a warboss and makes a unit of 'ard boyz a nightmare unit.

Elites:

2-3 units of 15 lootaz

If I only take two units of lootaz then the third elite is a unit of kommandoz led by Snikrot

Troopz:

10 nobz - painboy, cybork bodies and all armed differently in a battlewagon. The boss runs with this mob. Make sure that they're equipped differently so that you can exploit the wound allocation rules. Some people call this cheese. Considering that this is a 500 point unit I don't think it's cheesey at all.

19 'ard boyz w/ a PK nob in a battlewagon. The mek or Grotsnik runs with this mob.

20 boyz w/ a PK nob in a battlewagon

20 boyz w/ a PK nob in a battlewagon

1-2 units of trukk boyz

I always arm 'ard boyz with slugga and choppaz. The same goes for trukk boyz. Slugga boyz don't get special weapons. The rest are shoota boyz. I usually put the max number of rokkit launchaz in each unit of shoota boyz.

Fast Attack:

If I run fast attack it's usually a unit or two of bikers w/ a PK nob. I run them in squads of 3. They're a very fragile unit and you have to protect them but they're easy to hide and they hit very hard once they get into combat. The other fast attack choices are crap.

Heavy Support:

3 battlewagons are always your best bet. I always equip mine with red paint jobs, deffrollaz, grot riggerz (if I need to burn up a few points) and 2 big shootaz. The big shootaz are just there to absorb weapon destroyed results. They rarely get used. The extra inch can make a huge difference so you should always give your vehicles red paint jobs. Deffrollaz do a ridiculous amount of damage. In some circles they can be used on vehicles. Others don't allow it. Admittedly, they're much better when they can be used on vehicles (they're the only reliable way to take out a land raider that we have) but they're still worth the points even if you can only use them against infantry.

Keep in mind that this is my "kill, maim, smash, destroy" list. Everything in the ork codex is good enough to field in a fun game and there are a ton of different ways to build an effective army. Building it is half the fun. Orkz are the best army for anyone interested in scratch building and heavy customizations. Check out my gallery here if you want some ideas. I have a lot of pics of my stuff put up there.

You can use scrathbuilt models as long as they are primarily made from GW parts, however, no judge will DQ you if you've used plasticard and putty. As long as the model is in the theme of the game and addequately represents the model it is intended to be you'll be fine.

I used a scratchbuilt Defiler (which had not been released at the time) for the 2002-2003 GT season and the judges were fine with it.

I wouldn't be so sure about this in the U.S. If the opponent has a tantrum about it the judge might veto the model.

Only at 'ard boyz. No one cares in regular tournaments.

ok here is a real noob question but here goes. so if i take a unit of 30 boyz and upgrade 1 to a nob do i still have to pay for the 30th boy + the upgrade of the nob?

so like 30 at X points each + X for 1 nob
or
29 at X points each + X for the nob

I used the same model in Canada too. Unless the official GW tourney rules differ from US - England (Which I don't think they do), you'll be fine.

I've been to tourneys in Canada and here in England and I've never seen a player throw a wobbla just because a model wasn't addequate for what it was supposed to be.

I can see someone complain if the model is too big tho.

@Sickening
You have to pay the points for the full 30 boyz, then pay the points for the nob. This being because you upgrade 1 boy to a nob. Therefore, the nob had to come from a boy so you still have to pay the Boyz cost and then add on the Nobz cost.

Wow, I totally forgot about the vehicle can't count as scoring units. Then why they heck you could bring deff dreads as troops then? Other than so you can bring 9 killa kans togethere with it, that's just utter crap.

i have yet to make any lootas, but they too should be fairly simple to scratch build, ork boyz with some cunning repositioning + SM Missle launchers las guns etc. I plan to make some myself this way to give their deffguns a more "looted" look.

I also just scratch built 3 kanz and its super easy. i used legoes and some rhino bits for the top. i also used some old gundam toys for the limbs. I wish i had a camera to show you guys.
