Some of the Tau Septs could be nice as long as you embrace ‘The Greater Good’.
Dal'yth, Au'taal or Elsy'eir could be good candidates

agreed. the grimdark future is all war except in the tau septs where it's woodstock all year, every year! also, the realm of ultramar isn't half bad as earlier stated as long as the weather forecast calls for sunny with no chance of mycenic spores.

Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions
|
GW's love of ultra marines has provided a welcome respite from the grim and dark grimdarkness of the grimdark 41st millienium in the form of ultramar, and primarily Macragge, until it got buried under several kloms of gently steaming 'nids.
If this was about sucky and GRIMDARK places, then Mordia (not Mordian, how can GW accedentally change the name of a planet?) has to be pretty high up there. A hive world, one side is constantly bathed in radiation, while the other side is one of the most densly packed hive worlds in the imperium. Millienia ago, a warp storm opened and almost overran the planet. They were pushed back, but not without killing most of the population and leaving many cults in their wake. So, now the official state policy in the event of a rebellion (and their are numerous) is once the cult is rooted out or insurrection put down, the Iorn Guard reduce the country sized ziggaraut shaped hive's population by one tenth. Basalisk shelling is a popular option, as is gas bombing, but usually the ol' "march though the center of town and shoot anything that pokes it's head out the window" tactic will suffice.

Grimdark? You Want Grimdark? Take the Iron Hands. They Slaughtered 33% of an entire solar system as punishment for letting one Planet rebel.
Anyone else think they are overcompensating for having the first Primarch to pop his clogs?

I would agree with maiden worlds, they sound pretty nice and tranquil but obviously you will have the problem of being evicted by the eldar

Nah, its just the Adeptus Terra's program of cultural redundancy, good cultures get recreated in whole to keep those effective IG regiments coming, its just like how Holy Terra isn't Earth... / GW apologist

See that Bright Spot in the sky? The one that's really big and glows? Yeah, the Eldar made THAT.

Problem being nice worlds in the grimdark either
A:used to belong to other people (Namely Eldar)
B: Stand in the way of Waaaaaghs
C:have cultists and unsanctioned psykers on them that cause warp rifts and Daemonic incursions (thanks for that)
D: In the case of verdant lovely worlds like Prandium stand in the way of Hive Fleets.
So in Grimdark you will be very lucky to live anywhere where psychopaths, war loving green people, mindless soulless monsters,Pissed off Space Elf bailiffs,And Greater good offering aliens dont. So yea im thinking thats somewhere outside the milky way or within the Sol System itself.........So thats no then (In my oppinion) Automatically Appended Next Post: Ohhhhh yes and Tombs full of Silver killing machines mustnt forget them.

For trying to find escape from Humanity's eternal struggle, you are all weak fools:
Might I remind you of Contqual? Those degenerate Heretics sought to isolate themselves from the horrors of the Imperium; their withdrawal made them lose their vigilance, they became weak, vulnerable... though they created their verdant paradise, Chaos soon infiltrated; and the righteous Iron hands purged 1 in 3 of all the citizenry; a harsh reminder of what happens when one seeks to close their eyes on Humanity's dire needs!
The Emperor protects; faith is all that matters! Raaargh!
Yeah... so in short, making some wussy Star Trek Insurrection-style paradise will just make you get raped by Slaanesh and in turn pwned by the Imperium...
Calth seemed nice, mind, Uriel Ventris had nice memories of the place...

+1 for a Tau sept.
It would probably be alot nicer to live than an Imperial world. You could also make it with a hot alien babe. And, in the end, is that not what man has dreamt of since he first looked up at the stars?
