But you would have to look elsewhere when a weapon profile is not present.
and the prfile of a generic weapon would be a reliable one.

No. Actually I would not.
And "generic weapons" do not exist, precisely. About the closest it gets is "CCW" which has been vetted pretty well.

The HK missile is a universal weapon that uses the same rules throughout every book.
Why would it suddenly change for a single book?

To be honest, as Gwar has stated, there isnt even a problem here, so i dont really see a point in carrying on, however, im far too fething stubborn to let it lie.

Why would storm shields suddenly change for a single book?

Or perhaps more importantly, why are you looking in a different codex at all?
Editing " why are you looking in a different codex at all" for redundancy
Why are you looking in any codex and claiming the rules within matter to anything other than the codex they are written in.

Because GW are nobs?
The fact that they have 2 profiles for the shield allready.
The HK rules are consistant throughout.

Because i wanted to check the profile of every army that uses a HK, and funnily enough, they are all the same
and i am well within my rights to check any book i like.

Yeah but we have Bjorn.

Also, no self respecting Space Wolf Player has any Multimeltas in the army. They have Meltaguns

The HK missile listed in the BGB is your best option (even though its not listed as being one shot).

back off topic Assault cannons are always better then LasCannon (ignoring monoliths). The one and only thing the lascannon has going for is range. The odds of damaging AV are as follows

AV10
LC 160/216 =74%
AC 64/216 =75.5

AV11
LC 128/216 =59.2%
AC 32/216 =47.3%

AV12
LC 96/216 =44.4%
AC 32/216 =47.3%

AV13
LC 64/216 =29.6%
AC 64/648 =34%

AV14
LC 32/216 =14.8%
AC 32/648 =18.3%
why does the lower odds AC pen more then the LC? It has 4 shots ... One and only place that the LC is better is against AV 11.

Uhh...yes, yes it would.

And it's more like common sense would suggest using the book that the BAs are based off of and have the exact same weapon statlines. Hell, you could use the Chaos book if they had the option and it would still fall under common sense.

A page late and a rules reference short.

Aside from the obvious exceptions where special rules are in place (ex thousand sons and stern ap3 bolters), the statlines are exactly the same for each weapon. Sure, the SMs get some fancy weapons for being SMs, but the weapons they share are the same.

It's not unreasonable in the slightest.

Also, this discussion was going on 7 posts before my post, so its hardly a page late.

The ball would need to rend to do the job, as such, to get even it would need to roll a 5-6 each time for rending damage.
Meaning that to actually damage anything AV14 i would need to roll alot of high dice.

The las is TL meaning it will hit 90% of the time.
Its allready S9 meaning that it will easily damage vehicles.

Actually JD, you're incorrect here even against AV14 the TLAC is better.

The TL lascannon will get 0.88 hits per shot. It needs a 6 to pen (0.167). As such it has a 0.1 (10%) chance of killing or immobilising armour 14.

The TL Assault cannon needs a 6 and then a 3 to penetrate. (0.11). However, it's getting an average of 3.55 hits. So it's total chance of killing or immobilising armour 14 is 21

ETA, for comparison, a single melta shot is 29%

Thanks scott, i was just put off there really with the fact you need 2 full rolls (1 for rend, 1 for damage) to actually do anything.
I have been tinkering with the idea of adding a vindi into the army though.

I know they may not be the best, but a S10 pie is nice enough.
It can hunt tanks or troops, and its possibly one of the best lith killers in the army lol.

a pie plate centered on a LR will rarely miss (using LR as an example of AV14)
You then need to get a 5-6, still not amazing, but still good.

Failing that, i have a death company furioso anyway, which will do the job (once i buy him a pod)

5-6 on 2D6 Drop Lowest, so even better
Edit: A Little math hammers:
Assuming you got a direct hit, a Vindicator has a 20/36 (55.5%) chance of scoring a Penetrating hit, which then destroys 2/6 (33.3%) of the time, which ends up as a 18.518% Chance of a Destroyed result against AV14.

I'll be honest i run 2 Vindies with my BA, hell if you think about it there really is no reason NOT to.

did think they were the way to go
HS wise for the army ill be running: Baal (allways take one) vindi and either a tri las or dakka pred aswell.

elte wise im ignoring vets, they are good, but not heavy enough hitters for what i need, so that space so far will be either 1-2 termie squads and a DC dread, or round the other way.

(taking termies for the space hulk models )

Vindis are great but they're very predictable because of their short range.

They're a classic hammer unit in that they're easy to neutralise and too dangerous to ignore. Your opponent will either pour fire on them or keep away from them. Either way you're forcing a reaction from him. They are more valuable for this than for what they actually kill (not a lot usually)

aslong as they pour fire into that then the DC and chappy, assault squads and drop dread get closer, so either way works for me i guess.

Exactly - don't rely on them killing much but use them agressively.

Against an opponent with plenty of fire power you can expect him to try and shoot them. Against a less shooty opponent you can expect him to move to keep them out of range. Either way you're making an opportunity.

also, it may only be short range, but thats all i really need.
I dont plan on starting a firefight with an army when the army is kitted out for combat.
this should also help against tau (bane of my life) as the suits get fethed over in masse.
Railheads get nailed pretty badly aswell.

Overall i think it would be of great use to me lol, not only that, but large explosions still appeal to the orky part of my brain

That was not the first, and I daresay it will not be the last. I tend to nitpick RAW almost as much as he. Between the two of us, my army has been weakened quite a bit. I was even fool enough to thank him for it.

But anyway, I like my sig. . .

Although it has been there a while so perhaps I should find another quote.
