I love the idea, a big Rok with a bunch of smaller Roks and spacecraft lodged in it. Wicked idea. Now makng it happen will be the trick.

What if the orks looted a craftworld?
You mean what happens when orks loot a craftworld right? We all know orks can loot anything so its only a matter of time... yes only a matter of time...

This is an awesome idea!
If other orks hear about da Kraftwurld and crash their hulks into it, adding more caverns/ships/lootin' grounds, how long do you think it'd take for the megahulk to start attracting moons or planets with its gravitational pull?
That's be a fun campaign: "Get to the engines, we need to turn this rok off before it takes our moons and small planets!"

Man... im tempted to ditch eldar and imperial gaurd to go orks...
i imagine it to be like that pirate city in Pirates of the Carribean... Ork pirates, and ork pirate craftworld... it would be SO BIG!!! that the different tribes would fight eachother for no reason... it b like a huge ork planet...
and every so and so a warboss rises through the ranks. he declares a WAAAGH and into a warp storm they got. then they ram the closest planets and rip em apart. so the Kraftwurld would be like the starting rok and space ships but then multiple planets that have been stomped.
it would be so EPIC...
Elegost
also... what if you gave this Kraftwurld a MASSICE DEFFROLLA!!! that is like, multiple ships all nose to nose and placed at the front... so you can ram planets.
that would make for a nice senario. each turn roll 3d6, that is how many inch the deff rolla would move from one board edge towards the other. it deals immediate death.
so the armies fight for survival as the HUGE mass of ships rolls towards them. it is a fight towards the teleporter (or whateva)

Only if I can have exactly 20.18% of your soul. Exactly. Exactly 20.18%. No rounding.
I donno I see the KraftRok as an inside out planet. Given that fact I imagine that the various tribes would be like it's different nations. Freebooterz would -have- to be a big part of the Rok though.
And yep, definately need a 'Deffdrilla'. And some giant repurposed Zzap Gunz tat've been modified to use for mining operations

metallifan wrote:I donno I see the KraftRok as an inside out planet.
I see it as a large number of ships and rocks crashed together, some big, some small, some huge. Some of the gaps between the rocks form huge caverns, some of the huger rocks have huge cave systems within them (both from removing the ore etc they contain and just natural caves), and with ships mooshed in between for good measure.
I think I definately have the image of at least one huge cavern where either by some strange coincidence, or by the combined effects of a number of different ships grav plates, or by the spin of the rock world etc... the gravity is such that it allows every bit of the cavern to be "floor".
And more than anything, I see there being hundreds of individual groups of orks going about their work, some just fighting, some trading, some building whatever their vision for the place is... sort of like the orks in Gorkamorka... all working on the same lump of metal, but all doing totally different things.
I also see the tribes branching off into several distinct types:
+ The ones furthest inside "cut off" from the outside by all the intervening tribes. Because they are inside the rock, they have the least resources in terms of metal etc, but they will be some of the oldest tribes, so will be quite strong, and as their equipment will be the oldest, it will be full of custom stuff. They also trade food and fuel they get their grots to grow to other tribes in exchange for new toys et.
The ecosystem will be fully Ork, lots of fungus, lots of squigs, lots of grots.
+ The intermediate population will be in the rocks and ships that still have quite a few resources to mine and strip. There will be lots of younger orks here who have been chased off by the inner and outer clans, mixed with a few older, more experienced orks who make a living digging out the ore and salvaging the tec (and obviously fighting each other over the spoils thus attained).
The eosystem will be relatively bare, as lots of this area will be relatively newly mined and/or still being discovered. Many dangers here as some ships may have dangerous cargo (or surviving passengers...), mines collapse etc.
+ The outer layer will be the fiercest warriors and the best meks, they will either be newly arrived or well established. They will be the ones launching the raids on any passing space junk, planet, ork warband, hulk, etc... They will also be the ones building whatever it is they think the rock world should have. Huge space guns, engines, teleporters, etc...
This layer will have the most tec and will, in my view, be composed of mostly hulks and ships, with a few rocks. A lot of this layer will be fairly "new" in the life of rockworld. There will also be the rocks and ships being used to launch raids on anything that comes within range.
Lots of space suits and boys, lots of mega armour and Meks.

I have a back story for my orks similar to the 'ork craftworld' idea. I massivly large 'super' hulk the size of a small planet had formed from the wreckage and debris of an anciant human space civil war. The remains of two armies that had nearly annihalated each other drifted together into a massive collection of scrap. Any iron tword the surface had rusted to a fine orange dust, that is blown around in great storms. Hazards abound, including the before mentioned rust dust storms, fast flowing viscus rivers of oil, high pressure rocket fuel gas pockets spray like guisers from the surface ignighting into mushroom clouds, or continuous gouts of flame.
This is the world affectionatly known by it's inhabitant orks as "DA HEAP!". To any more of a civilized race, DA HEAP would be a death trap at best. A pockmark on the galaxy. A becon to show all the universe how much waste war creates. To orks though, it is paradice. The orks on DA HEAP! have a tale that explains how DA HEAP formed. It crypticly tells of the lesser gods, wazza, dakka, snik. The main god of the stories is 'osh, the ork god of junk. He desired a great champion, so he took a thousand orks, and crashed them into DA HEAP as hard as he could. The one that survived lived to rule the orks that soon emerged from the rust and oil. His name was Junk Lord Gor'osh. He has lead the Junka Boyz as they grew like a swarm of locust over the massess of war torn refuse, consuming and building great ramshackle engines of war. They just recently gathered all the rockets and propulsion drives to one side of DA HEAP. They tried to start them all up at once, and while only 1 in 10 actually fired, the thousands of them that did ignight started DA HEAP on its crusade (mind you with catastrophic earth quakes). They hope to seed the start of a new massive WAAAGH!, they just arn't sure where that will be yet since DA HEAP is corkscrewing out of control in every direction except directly forward. All the Warp Heads know is that all that is happening so far is making 'Osh very happy.
I've got a lot more, and am planning on writing either a 'long' short story, or a short book.
