Akebono TarÅ fought in K-1 for 3 years, he finished with a record of 1-12. Not really surprising, since he wasn't particularly agile and lacked any kind of appropriate technique. Ultimately, while sumo are very powerful, they generally can't apply that power in a way which is particularly useful in a combat sport like MMA.
