If you have some range available, the griffon is a weapon of choice. A griffon battery is only 225 points - not much more than that 30 boyz mob - and can drop three 5" templates that wound on 2+ and bypass 'eavy armor due to AP4. Priority targets are, of course, orkmobs that are not in cover terrain and at best protected by directional cover; in such a case, the precise bombardment of the griffon mortars will probably wreck the mob in one or two barrages. Try to use terrain to your advantage and shoot them where they need to tighten their formation, then you can kill up to nine boyz with one griffon shell.
KFF is a minor problem against this tactic, but probably not enough to save them.

The thing about Orks is they trick you. People think they should shoot them, but shooting orks is meh unless you have a SIKK amount of huge guns (think IG with like 6 pie plate guns of some kind). They have trukks and KFF and FNP and cybork bodies and cover and hordes of a gagillion guys. One way or another it's coming to a fist fight. The way you really hurt them is with big bad cc units. Anything that does a high volume of wounds at I4+ is good. Power weapons are great if they have FNP. LC terminators, vanguard, eldar cc specialists, genestealers, bloodletters, chaos lord with daemon weapon, khorne berserkers, any of those things can do the trick.

@FoxPhoenix135: While I agree that those vehicles are nice against big bunches of boyz, their main capabilites seem a bit wasted against models with 4+ or 6+ saves. All these tanks are MEQ killers and therefore more expensive than you need them to be for the job.
Therefore - Griffons!  Two for the price of one vanilla LRBT. And more accurate. And wounding on 2+ and ignoring 'eavy armor, just like the LRBT.
Some precision elaboration:
A griffon heavy mortar will hit its target dead-on in 59.26% of cases.
A LRBT will hit its target with its main gun dead-on in 38.89% of cases.
Furthermore, a griffon heavy mortar without LOS will still hit its target dead-on in 55.56% of cases. It loses very little accuracy while gaining total immunity against the opponents weaponry if you can manage to hide it behind BLOS cover.
Both templates - griffon and LRBT - will do exactly the same damage against your average ork mob.
The advantages of the LRBT lie with the additional sponson and hull weapons. However, my money would still be with two griffons instead of one LRBT.

Two units of 10 Battle Sisters, with a Flamer and a Heavy Flamer. I hate fighting Orks!
Each unit:
Heavy Flamer: 5 hits, 3.33 wounds, 3.33 killed.
Flamer: 5 hits, 2.5 wounds, 2.5 killed.
Boltguns: 16 shots, 10.66 wounds, (no-KFF)10.66 killed/(KFF)7.11 killed.
Assuming a KFF (I have never faced Orks without one), an EzyBake Battle Sisters Squad will kill an average of 12.94 Orks. Two units will make them take a Leadership test. If the Sister Superiors in those units have Braziers/Combi-Flamers, the Orks are gone.

Elric of Grans: Don't your battle sisters need to roll to wound? Or to hit? I mean, with 16 shots you have 10.66 hits at BS4 and then only 5.33 wounds. So you're assuming some kind of faithpower that gives them autohit or autowound, I assume? I'm not familiar with sisters.
Addendum: Just looked up the online-codex for WH. It seems there is no auto-hit or auto-wound act of faith, so...I fear your SoB squads are killing 5.33 less orks (10.66 orks less from both squads combined) with their shooting. Which, in result, lets half of the mob survive on average...
..and that is the best case of "no KFF, no 'eavy armour".

Eradicator, Executioner, LRBT, Manticore, Devildogs with HHF, MRP valkyries, Heavy flame wielding infantry.
Specifically the Eradicator as you generally get... alot of kills per blast, assuming you dont scatter Waaaay off from the large mob'o'orks.
Buuut thanks for all the replies guys. Seems like it can be done & I havent been overly cautious in my anti-horde armement selection.

Farseer uses Mind War on the Nob with power klaw if there is one, then charge in a Warwalker. Squad is locked in combat until either the Orks die or run, if other squads show up Mind War any possible Nobz with Power Klaws. You only have to worry about the charge because they will be S4, but after that they'll be S3. Not the most effective, but it is probaby the cheapest. The Farseer would be helping other things anway. A squad of Warwalkers would be better, but it could also be over kill. You could also charge in the Hit and Run units as well if you wanted, that could help remove them quickly before another could show up. But, a Farseer and Warwalker should be enough, maybe two just incase they do manage to take one out on the charge.
Of course with the Farseer so close you could use a Wraithlord, but that would take a few more points and could be doing better stuff at the time. Being T8 I don't think they'd be able to hurt it even on the charge.
A Dreadnought or Ironclad Dreadnought could work as well (as it has for me in the past). But, it will not be able to remove the Nob with Power Klaw as effectively and would most likely be killed by that.
Sentinels could also be used, but I'd probably use a full squad of the armoured ones to make them more survivable against the Power Klaw, but it would be better to take them out at range instead.

For the JetLocks did you factor in Enhance and Multiple destructors because I run 10 locks 1 w/ Enhance 1 w/ Embolden 8w/ destructor which seems to do the job against most things

Fortune on the bladestorm firing unit and doom on the target unit is enough to wipe 70-90% of a 30-strong boyz mob in my experience.

9 Dire Avengers and a Bladestorm/Dual shuriken catapult exarch with guide and bladestorm and doom on the target will kill 21.65 boyz on average. That is quite a lot.
However, if you grant the boyz a KFF save, you get only 14.43 dead orks.
'ard boyz or boyz in normal cover will only lose 10.83 orks.
It is good for a 152pts troop choice and a 120pts HQ and only one round of shooting, but on average it would be wise to have another unit around to support their efforts.

For those of us without access to awesome sauce CC units (I'm talking Tau), you can't rely on smacking them down in CC.
Usually handling boyz mobs for Tau becomes an exercise in focused fire. Use markerlights to remove cover saves, and then hit them with submunition rounds.
I have a Shas'O (or 'el for smaller games) I keep around for running into orks. He's got an airbursting frag projector, and a twin-linked flamer. He usually sports stimms and sometimes iridium armor along with a couple of shield drones. With some careful positioning its not uncommon to get between 12-18 boyz in the combined blast. That usually results in between 7-11 boyz dead with just that unit. Depending on how close they are to your line you can either jump away or assault them (usually tying up the mob for a turn).
Kroot in woods or on the other side is good too. They can pillbox while the mob advances and then charge out. Kroot and hounds will strike first on the charge. Assuming 10 kroot and 8 hounds, and everyone in combat, you'll get 13.5 orks before they even swing.
So yeah, for Tau, submunitions, flamer/afps, and charging kroot. Oh, and flechette dischargers - they really mess up an Ork's day. Present him with a wall of skimmers between him and your gooey fireline.

Canonness carries a brazier of holy fire or combi-flamer, so does the sister superior, sisters carry a flamer and a heavy flamer. That is 3 flamer templates, 2 heavy flamer templates, and a whole bunch of fried orks.

The problem with the mind war idea is that you're trying to kill a Ld10 model with two wounds (read the mob rule). Statistically it's very long odds.
