Who's Macthen?

Anywho, my point was that the question is 'Would they kill humans for simply being humans?' (i.e. vermin to be exterminated) Or would they only do it to reach a certain goal? Achieve a particualr objective?

The eldar are seen as a capricious race, fickle and untrustworthy. This was a race, that prior to the fall, did not know "true" death (eldar souls used to reincarnate into the next generation, and in this way, there was no limit to what they could achieve.)

Aspect warriors do not feel whilst in their armour and on the battlefield. Part of the rites they undergo to prepare for battle has to do with the donning of masks and the disassociation that goes with it. So no hate on the battlefield as such.
In one piece of fluff (RT, but 2nd ed used it and so did 3rd, so it's not retconned yet) - Macthen removed his mask after the battle and only then did the sights, sounds and other experiences have any effect on his psyche - he broke down and wept.

Whoa, didn't know that about aspect warriors. I assume thats to prevent them to take any pleasure in their killing, so Slaanesh can't ravage thier soul?

Yes, exactly. The Craftworld eldar live in extreme self-denial. (but still fairly lax compared to exodites, aka High Elves >_&gt.

The eldar who aren't so bothered to follow so strict a path become ranger/pathfinders.

I'm weighing in on the side that says eldar are required by their strict Path system to have good reasons for everything they do.
Exceptions do exist, however:
-When the Avatar is stomping around, they're all filled with bloodlust and rage, so they might strike out at anything that came near. But hey, if they've broken out the Avatar, you probably deserved it.
-Corsairs and other Eldar on the Path of the Outcast.

Eldar fluff is the best Elf-y fluff I've ever read.

They only kill humans when there is a purpose.
The problem for the humans is that they do not have the knowledge and foresight of a farseer. The farseer might detect that a human colony will fall to chaos in 10 years time and create a force which strikes against the craftworld., so the eldar strike force is directed to slaughter the colony.

Such an act would appear to the humans to be reckless slaughter, but to the Eldar it is a very different act.

But for the Biel-Tan it STATES that they luanch xeno-cidal wars against all types of aliens (orks, human, tau etc), so THEY aren't trying to achieve any other goal than killing humans.

If there is no reason or purpose then they will ignore humans if possible, eldar do have a slightly more ethical approach to things than most other races.
so i think unless women or children posed a threat or are initially a target then they would leave them.

Eldar fight upon the whim of a farseer.
They do it for what they believe is the best possible way.

So yes, if they attack a planet then they would target all threats in thier way, but when searching for a lost artifact they would only target someone who decides to fight them, or poses a direct threat (ie: thousand sons searching for the same thing)

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.
