Do you think that the GW snow would put out a similar effect?

I don't know for sure, but I imagine it's not different material. There might have been huge breakthroughs in snow technology, but I'm betting all the companies use the same stuff - more or less.
Can't hurt to try anyway.

Another update - this one is a 2 pronger.
First up, the dwarf stuff.
I finished the organ gun and stone thrower - here are the shots:
I also finished the gyrocopter/flying dwarf. I decided to spruce up his base with a seemingly unrelated bit that I've been trying to figure out what to do with. It's awesome, but it never really fit anywhere.
Finally, I decided my savage orcs need a chariot, and while it's not related to the dwarf army at all, I figured I'd include the WIP shots of it here anyway. As I sat at work, I wondered what a tribe of cave-orcs would build in the way of chariots, being restricted to cave man level technology. After a few minutes, my brain conjured up this:
http://www.designsojourn.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/flintstones-car.jpg
and the project was born.
So, without further ado, here is the first shot of my savage orc chariot:
As you can see, it's got a long way to go.
Oh, and the rest of the army's in my gallery, if you're wondering what manner of retards would drive this moronic device.
Let me know what you think,
Wonko

Just a quick update today - pics of the fully assembled Savage Orc chariot. The painted guy is the warboss for the tribe - he's got a boar and a wyvern that he ride as well.
I decided against the awning - it was too tall and looked a bit silly. Not that the whole thing doesn't look silly, but at least it's in proportion. The guards are old big'un models with giant cannibal masks.
A unit of dwarf quarrelers and a couple of rune smiths are on the way - the dwarfs haven't been forgotten!

It's been a few days, but here are the newest updates to the dwarfs & their jungle orc buddies.
First, the quarrelers:
Oooo, ahh, 3 core units in the army.
And the 2 rune smiths:
And now, the finished savage orc warboss on his flintstonesque chariot:
Let me know what you think - I'm particularly happy with the chariot.

I like that WFB is a much brighter color scheme. Sure you could paint marines like they're fresh off the assembly line-but that wouldn't really look good. I like the chariot.

It's been a long while, but here's an update!
I finished a large (32) block of miners this afternoon. Next up for the dwarfs will be 2 units of 10 warriors for flank security, but first it's back to the Catachans for a bit. I've got another Valk to paint, and 3 scout cars are on order to fill in as sentinels or chimeras - I'm not sure which yet.
Nothing else today - let me know what you think,

can you give me a step by step of the process used on the longbeard with the white beard - ie. how you painted but his hair?
thanks

Absolutely,
I base coated the beards w/ white, then washed them with watered down fortress grey. I used some black wash to hit the main crevices (around the jewelry & between the braids), then highlighted with straight white. It sounds harder than it was. If you wanted to skip a step, you could skip the grey wash, but I think it adds some depth to the beard.
Hope it helps,
Wonko

Awesome details all around, I'm particularly impressed with the banner/cloak freehand work and the candles on the miners.
Makes me want to start painting my Skull Pass dwarves. Keep up the great work.

I've finished the final units for the dwarfs!
These are the 2 flank security units & the BSB. Nothing too remarkable really, they just bulk out the warrior numbers in the army and add some versatility to army selection. The army's at about 3k now, and I think it'll stay there for a good long while.
Here are the pics:
Hope you enjoyed reading,
