Heh. Good to see more recruits for the Forge. Thanks for the shout-out, too.

I've been toying with a necron/bloodletter kitbash for my plaguebearers, too, but now you've gone and beaten me to the punch...

Before deciding to go with Fiends over Crushers, I'd come up with a few ideas for conversions: mini-soulgrinders (bloodletter bodies with spider legs made from plasticard/tubing), tank-centaurs (bloodletter torso/arms, tank tread lower body using wartrakk bits) or plastic fantasy ogres with plenty 'o cyber-bits. Whatever you use, your crushers should be big, bulky and not particularly fast-looking.

When someone smiles at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for its life.

My current idea for Bloodcrushers is:

Balrog upper body with Sentinel legs. I know it's going to be huge, but... It'll look awesome! I'm going to do a mockup over the next week and get ideas.

Right now I'm STUCK on the Fiends. I think that the pictures I posted at the end of the first page just have too big of a hull. They don't look like cavalry to me. They look more like Bloodcrushers. I've considered using my Seeker model (from the first post) and using it as my Fiends, but I can't come up with a good idea for my Seekers.

I kitbashed some parts up and am in the process of making a mold for the hull of my Fiends. It looks amazing. I'm on cloud nine right now. I'll post some pics of the WIP mold making once everything is finished.

I'll be able to de-frame this mold tomorrow when I get home from work and being casting. Will post some mock-up pics tomorrow as soon as I get the chassis' cleaned up.

Here are the mockups for my Fiends. There's been no conversion work--This is more just a "Does it look reasonably sized?" type post Suggestions much appreciated!

Currently working on a mounting system for the legs so it's all mechanical. I like the idea of metal being fused to flesh, not just random sproutings of flesh all over the place This system will also work for the Seekers really well. I'm running out of Mold Max 30 though--Going to have to get another gallon of it before I can start working on the Bloodcrusher bits molds.

I thought about doing a few models like that, but then I decided that my Daemons aren't skin over cybernetics--They're a fusion of daemonic flesh and machine. There's a subtle difference I want to capture in them

Mold is curing right now. I'll be able to break it open tomorrow morning and start doing some casting! Should see some improved and finished Fiends and Seekers tomorrow evening as long as nothing funky happens. Bwuahahha!

I like these. They're suitably steampunk and nasty looking. Im not a huge fan of the concept of cyber daemons, but these models are really awsome!

When you call an intimate moment with your partner "the Assault Phase"

Is that followed by a pile-in move?

That brings a whole new meaning to the term "Hit and Run"

Can that be following a deep strike, or do you have to wait until the next round?

Had an accident with the mold :/ Re-poured it about two hours ago and it should be online about midnight tonight. Debating if I'm going to start pouring tonight or wait until tomorrow. I should have some mockups of the finished Fiends and Seekers by tomorrow night.

For some reason, those bionic Daemon-critters keep reminding me of those demons in Constantine. You know, those who looked like someone cut their heads in half...

I like where this is going to... It's a kind of Daemon host Iron Warriors would most likely summon...

After two days of casting and molding and watching Zombieland (funniest movie this year FYI), here are the *finalized* shots of my Fiend. I think it looks just about perfect. It's the right size, the right height, its body is a bit more forward than center of mass so it can actually reach stuff with its claws, and it just *feels* awesome. I'm so stoked with how it turned out. The only thing I'm unsure about it is how to paint it.

I've narrowed it down to a purple bruised flesh color or a light blue. I'm not that great of a painter, so these are the "easy" options that I know I can bust out and make look good for the tabletop. Someone want to jump in and help me out? Suggestions? Demands?

In any case, thanks for posting/looking at my plog!

Looks great! I've been reading this Plog with interest, but haven't had any comments more enlightened than 'Nice!' and a vague feeling of jealousy .

As for colour... I see the Fiend model as more of a purple, but that's just me. Thanks for sharing these great conversions!

I dunno. whats most of your army gonna be painted like?

If there isn't a unified scheme, than make sure the bases are unified.

I'm planning on doing the same paint scheme throughout the whole army. Purple would be a bit easier and better looking than the blue I think. Hmmm.

Since you're doing your own thing, I'd pick a non-traditional color, too (i.e., no red/khorne, blue/tzeentch, etc). That's part of why I chose white for mine.

A really dark purple-black could be cool--something like the grinder on the cover of the codex, for example.

I'm really unsure how to get a dark purple like that very easily. I'm super interested though--I had been leaning towards purple anyways. A light, bruised purple would be easier to achieve I think, but a dark purple would match better with all the metal parts I think. I think I'll have to go and find some purple flesh guides

It's the week of my fiance's birthday, so I'm not sure how much more I'm going to get done. I'm going to try to get the final sample model for my Seekers done before the weekend at least.

Black spraypaint, dark purple drybrush, light(er) purple drybrush.

Or alternatively, black spraypaint, white drybrush, purple ink wash.

I know it's been a long time since I posted but I finally got back to working on my Forge Fiends Here's some shots of my Bloodthirster. This is pre-green stuff WIP shots. My Bloodcrushers are mostly done too. I expect to get pics of them up in the next few days with luck.

Anyways, please leave comments/suggestions!

Looking good so far! Liking the pose and what you've done with the back. It's hard to make out the body/face though. Any chance that you would splash on a little wash so we can see better?

I think its tail needs to be way longer, could use some horns too IMO.

With that tail, he looks like a slug on metal feet, but its really coming together.

OTOH, i love the fiends.

My vote for paint scheme:

All mech bits should be primed black, drybrushed boltgun metal, washed ogryn flesh, then highlighted with more boltgun metal.

Paint all flesh white by hand, then red gore. Wash this with leviathan purple, then highlight with red gore and blood red. Lastly, give all of the flesh two hand coats of gloss varnish for that wet look.

This will create a very bloody, muscle with the skin ripped-off look. The effect contrasts well with the simple metallic treatment, and looks stunning.

I also like to incorporate some barbed wire wrapped around specific body parts with this treatment.

Great conversions!

Well, first off, FANTASTIC. I like it. Second, size is relative. You can make your model as big as you want. For my Angry Marine Thunderwolves, Im using 6" tall Hulk action figures on 60mm bases. Yes they are huge, but I dont really care. It just makes them that much more of a fire magnet than they already are. I think the bloodcrusher idea looks great, go with it. Eagerly awaiting more pictures.

These are TOTALLY WiP shots of my Bloodcrushers. The eyeless Bloodletters still need to be mounted on their backs and there are no spiky/grindy gubbins affixed to the Bloodcrusher yet either.

Yes, Super Sculpey dries to a nice even skin tone. Yes, his tail looks like a penis. No, it won't look like a penis once it gets some cabling, armor, and spikes. I promise.
