I loved WoW as 1-60 things just seemed so much more epic. I would probably still play but as I donned my first 80 epics on my hunter I thought.. I just trashed the rest of my 70 gear... Sunwell T6 gear... I can't do this again and Simply quit.

I must admit this got to me a bit too and although I didnt quit the game, I stopped raiding... the expansion was more of a fresh start for me (I started mid bc and could get passed ZA cause no ones wanted me crappyness) so it was nice, I was in top Naxx gear and what not... then Ulduar comes out... I could have very well gone in there and gotten the gear (which now made all my hard work pointless) but I decided to stay in a guild with friends where we didnt do much... it was when the patch containing ToC came out that I became completely discouraged... EVERYONE can now get Ulduar gear from doing mere instances and dungeons!!!! REALLY?!? Like those people spent countless hours a night doing Ulduar and getting top gear and now noobs can get their gear in Heroics?!?! BAH... so that turned me off from raiding untill about last week No more ranting and raving... I PROMISE!!! well... for now

Ah, that and deathknights ruined the game for me, as well as Northrend not being NEARLY as cool as it coulda been.

WoW has an enormous amount of content, and the lore of the Warcraft universe I think far exceeds that of anything Oblivion put to the table. I thought Oblivion was really underwhelming. Morrowind had a better story in my opinion that is presented in a similar way as WoWs, if you were to compare it to Oblivion. Morrowind did set you on a similar linear track but there was a depth to what was happening in Elder Scrolls III that you would not even touched upon if you didn't meet everyone or read the underlying lore and history books sprawled across the world. If you were willing to read the quest information and follow your progression in WoW you would really get a feel for the state of things and what is going on in the world - of Warcraft.
CoD4 was amazing, and short, and I do not know if it was so much a matter of having a better story than World of Warcraft as much as it is a matter of having a better means of presenting it to you. Its like apples and oranges. WoW makes for a terrible First Person Shooter actioner.
I suppose my criticism would be one of predictability. I could, generally, extrapolate what was going to happen in WoW (or, indeed, what had happened) but was unable to do the same with respect to TES universe.
Also, I liked Oblivion's emphasis on physical story-telling. Not about text placed in front of you, but deduction from vague actions by NPCs.

Illidan is dead, Blizzard screwed up on their writing. He almost got sliced in half, for crying out loud.
In today's news: Blizzard has the worst writers ever.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I play in a casual raiding guild (INCUBUS, horde, bronzebeard-EU) which means i don't have to have a second job to raid.. in fact.. not really raided these last few months.. but I mainly play as my other half also plays and i've made some good friends over the years.. i do tend to play it for a 6months or so and then take a few months off as i have a rather short attention span
got a lvl80 priest called maloghurst if you want to check him out on the armoury

My opinion is that if you want to play it play it .. i still think it's lame But people have their opinion's and will and should be able to have those two factors . Why do it think it sucks ? It's not becouse it does'nt have a story , infact it does , it's just that nobody read's it .. i have a book(a very old book.) my dad , who is 45 , gave me and i read it . Later i bought a book that had the story and fluff about Warcraft and WoW alike(a much newer book.) It was great , but my opinion on the game is the same , it really just sucks big , dry , unshowered , salty balls .. and I never quite get the reason for why i think so , i just to .. kinda like a guy who hates toast never buys a toaster .. It maybe becouse its to addicting to be allowed for some kids that might never recover from the time spend playing (they might lose their sence on soical life.) or the fact that if you are'nt the highest level , you'r just a pathetic noob .. i dunno , it sometime annoyes me to think why I hate the game like i do ...

Problem with gamers being addicted to WoW is not WoW itself, it is the problem with the parents.
Yeah 30+ year old men can get addicted to it as well but in all honesty, where the hell are the parents at to allow 12yo Johnny to play WoW for 10 hours a day, seven days a week and being so addicted mentally that he loses focus in school only thinking of WoW and so his grades slip because even if he does the homework he is not understanding it and fails tests?
I'm sorry but if you fail to keep an eye on your kid so he isn't playing WoW from the time he goes to school until he goes to bed and then repeats on weekends only from sun up to sun down you have no right to be a parent as obviously you are not a good parent.
It's the same BS excuse parents use to sue Rockstar games (maker of Grand Theft Auto). The game is for 17+ only. Stop letting your goddamn 10yo play it 5 or 6 hours a day.

Not sure what you are trying to say/prove gretar but as I said, if you think WoW is too addicting for 10yo johnny don't let him play. Not to mention WoW is 13 and up so you are a dumb, uncaring parent if you let 10yo Johnny play WoW without adult supervision.

Well when you put it that way... its not just WoW... hell, you could say the same thing if the kid builds and paints models 12 hours a day and does no homework.... Its not just WoW thats addicting... any game can be addicting just for some reason WoW is VERY addicting... to me at least D:

At least you can admit it. Nothing wrong with admitting to being an addict.
There IS something wrong with wanting to get better though.

I decided to keep my soul. I played LOTR Online up to Level 30, and got bored. You can only collect so many 10 Wolf/Boar/Warg/Spider/troll/goblin/ogre/unicorn/dragon/giant flying bat/owl/orc/nazgul/klingon/tyranid/whomping willow/mutant badger skins before going into a coma.

Agreed, Ketara.
It's why when playing MMOs, you need to prevent burnout. There's only so much raiding you can take before you say feth it and take a nice, six month long break.
However, the same can be said to avoid addiction. Take breaks. Do other things. Have fun.

Though raiding is a hell of a lot more fun than quest grinding, especially with a good guild. The guild I'm in sees raiding as more of a time for joking and bantering than see it as a job.
Was in a guild that treated raiding like it was a job and that sucked.

I've had my account since October 2005, but looking at my subscription history I've only paid for about 18 months. I haven't renewed in about 2 months now, and I probably won't until closer to christmas to avoid burning out.
That, and I REALLY can't be bothered leveling another character.
