Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Thanks much for the compliments everyone. Still waiting on my Forgeworld order to come in so I can actually finish building my troops. Started my first drop pod today, and will hopefully finish that, a second drop pod and the Wolf Scouts up over the weekend. May start working on my Bjorn conversion, still trying to figure out which rules to represent him though. Probably make him a Wolf Lord with Wolf Claw and bolt pistol, still not 100% though.

Very nice stuff. Hope you can bring it by BSG to show it off when it's done.

Edit: And you better make this an army profile...

Well, the artwork of him shows him in power armor, so that's where I'm starting from. Fluff wise he was a Grey Hunter at the tail end of the Crusade, and somewhere between there and Wolf Guard during Prospero. It's not all that clear from the fluff I read when he started hanging around with Russ, think it was during the Battle of Prospero or shortly after. Rules wise, I think he deserves to be a bad ass considering where he ends up, hence my wanting him to be a Wolf Lord. Either that or use Ragnar's rules to represent him as he should be a melee beast, least that's how I think of him.

Malf, it will be brought to BSG, not to worry there. And I'll do an army profile on them too, just gotta figure it all out.

I say that it depends on what you want, if you use Russ as the Wolf Lord, Bjorn should be a member of the Wolf Guard, if not, he could be used as "count as Ragnar".

Personally, I visualize him with a Storm Bolter shooting his way until he's close enough to slice you with a set of Wolf Claws (and don't ask me why, I imagine him being left handed, so that hand would be have the claws).

Another thing that you might want or not fix: the bolters back then had the barrels on the front and not in the middle.

I'm watching this with great interest I love the conversion work, especially the helmets. All of the wolves look very crisply and cleanly coverted, good job!

i'm a purist so i'd say go with the load out closest to what he current model has. he's modelled in a dread with a CCW that looks like a lightning claw, a heavy flamer, and an assault cannon. if it were me, i'd go with a wolf lord in termie armor, a combi-flamer/bolter, and a wolf claw. while i don't necessarily think that is the optimum mathhammer loadout, it's the one i'd go with in a themed preheresy army if i were doing bjorn.

think of the glory! you could field both the actual bjorn model and the mini-me wolf lord next to him!!

I won't be putting Russ in this army, as there's nothing in the rules that really fit a Primarch, so I think Bjorn as "counts as Ragnar" would be the best fit. And in the artwork and stories of Bjorn, his Wolf Claw is on his left hand too. And in regards to the Bolters, I thought about moving the magazines to the front as I did find some tutorials for making current Bolters like that. I just couldn't do it though as it makes no sense how that would even work with the ammo feed at the front of the gun. Caseless self propelled mass reactive bolts I have no problem with, but that ammo feed is what bothers me! There will be little things like that I won't be changing, kinda like the Storm Bolters on the Termies, but those I can live with and feel they don't take anything from the image of the army.

While it would be interesting to have Bjorn and mini-Bjorn next to each other, I think I'll keep him in power armor. A combi-flamer may be appropriate though.

It's been a while since my last update, but work and class have been crazy this month and I haven't had all that much time. I have finished and primed two drop pods and an eight man Wolf Scout squad so there has been some progress. And I (finally) got most of my FW order in, so I could start the troops more fully now. I've assembled my first 15 man Blood Claw unit and they should be primed today and hopefully painted within the next week, so here's a small update. I really like how the Mk IV armor mixes in with the various Wolf, Chaos and Loyalist bits. Really gives the feel I've been aiming for. Well, here's the pictures, hopefully I'll get them painted soon!

Yeah, that FW stuff does really mix in well. Can't wait to see a group shot (maybe in the gallery and thus zoomable?) of the whole force to date.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Thanks all for the comments, have the day off tomorrow yet so I should be able to make some progress, though the holiday and some overtime this week might push it back a bit. One week to full painted for this squad is my goal and hopefully I can stick to it!

@Savnock: I'll get a group shot when I get another squad or two assembled, then I should have most of my base army built. If I keep to my schedule, it'll be in the next two weeks.

Well, I'm a bit behind the schedule I had, but lots of overtime tends to do that. Finally have an update though, a fully finished Blood Claw squad! I'm fairly happy with the way they turned out, though a few of the squad patterns are a bit out of line and I noticed that I still have write things on the Oaths of the Moment (purity seals) and name plates here and there. So I guess they're not fully finished, but fully painted at any rate! Next up will be assembling either Skyclaws or Long Fangs, not sure which unit. I really want to build the Skyclaws as I have those cool PH jump packs, but after building and painting a 15 man Blood Claw unit, a 6 man Long Fang unit does sound tempting! I'll get a group shot of what I have after the next unit is assembled too. At any rate, painted Blood Claws:

How'd you do the pack markings? Did you free-hand them? I really need to develop a technique so my guys can actually have pack markings.

Playing Space Marine demo while GF was scrapbooking:
Me: I can turn it down, if the screams of dying orks are annoying you.
Her: That's ok, I love hearing the screams of dying orks.

My armies (W-D-L):
2,000 (about 1,200 painted and now I'm feeling the call of Russ) 3-4-3
2,000 (about 1,000 painted, WiP) 0-1

For the pack markings, I take my knife and lightly cut the patterns onto the shoulder pads before I prime the minis. Freehand isn't a strong point for me, so painting within the lines is much easier.

Great work- the running poses look really good with those SW bitz, much better than with faceless Berserkers etc.

And another vote for the Long Fangs!

Many thanks, but it's just to a tabletop standard really. Years of practice and the magic of washes do improve the look though!

Started building my Long Fangs tonight and accidentally attained a neat look for them. I noticed after randomly getting their parts together that I grabbed a lot of plain Chaos bits and Maxmini heads that make them all have Mark II/III armor on. Found this pretty fitting as Long Fangs of the Crusade were all Terran born as they were the oldest of the Wolves at this point. So a very fortunate accident on my part! Shame I don't have any of the old shoulder mounted heavy weapons to complete the look, guess the newer heavy weapons will have to do.
