Nice work Tekk,
I like the sharp jagged cammo (dazzle) style.

some of it looks a little fuzzy and non uniform on individual cammo patches. If you want it to look more uniform on a given patch I would suggest to make such a cammo patch look uniform use continuous back and forth motions going onto the mask before turning around. However if you want fades either feather around the edges after removing the mask or hold the mask a few mm off of the surface.

Keep it up!

Im assuming you are referring to the medium grey ones as most of the ohter ones came out well. I was trying to get a sharp edge look on them. But I had some problems with the medium grey ones. Several of them got messed up when i moved the mask because the paint was a little too watery. Or were spread by the air from the gun.

I plan on going back and brush cleaning up the edges of the fuzzy ones though. I am gonna take a look at your airbrushing guide though. I'm always looking for new techniques and such. Thanks for the comments.

I have looked over your tutorial before, there is definately some good information in there. I appreciate you taking the time to post something like that.

Ahh runny paint.
Though you've probably figured it out the obvious solutions are.
1 Back off on the thinner.
2 spray multiple finer coats.
3 After spraying and saying "ah @#$" pull the brush further from the work and depress the air only to accelerate drying without pushing the watery stuff around.

if your fast and the paint isnt drying very quickly you can
4a have a very lightly damp cloth(very soft so as not to scratch paint unnecessarily) to wipe up the wet paint and just have to repaint that small area again.
4b stop flowing paint but increase the flow of air to blow that wet stuff to the underside of the model or some place where it will collect and you can wipe it up.

I do A fairly often with a wet Qtip and b if there is a region right next door that doesn't have its final coat yet.

Thanks for the tips!

I could do for some comments about the suit. I was browsing about on ATT, looking at some pictures to get some ideas. I feel like the rust on mine doesnt completely look right on its own. I think i want to do some paint chips in addition to the rust and what few armor chips i have. What color do you guys think will work well for the chips (basically whats under the paint). something like these chips here:

(credit to freeloader on ATT, i found this picture on his tutorial)

It looks like the person who painted the model did the chips in graveyard earth. what do you guys think as far as me adding this to mine in addition to the rust and and stuff?

Heres my suit for a reference since the picture is on another page.

I don't think that rust fits the tau look very well - I can see chips, but I can't imagine that they would neglect their equipment in the manner of the imperium. Just my thought on it. as for chips, go for it. Adeptus battle gray as the base for the chip with a highlight of astronomicon gray would probably look pretty dope.

Some plans fell through this weekend, so I am hoping to see lots of progress by monday morning. I have been working on the fire warriors mostly today and they are coming along well. Not much left for them but some finishing touches. I still have 2 shield drones and their bases left to do and the bases for the devilfish's gun drones. I am a little uneasy about the suits. Where they sit now I am not terribly happy with them. I have decided I dont like the rusty look anymore, so that is going to get the boot. But that leaves a lot of work left to do on them. I still need to do some clean up and detail on the devilfish.

I would really like to be a little closer to done than where I sit now. But that can be attributed to my horrifically persistent laziness. I saw today somewhere on here someone described themselves as "at the level of laziness, where procrastinating takes too much effort" (or something to that effect). I really got a good chuckle out of that one as it describes me very very well... I don't exactly think that is a good thing though

As for pictures, I will get some up at the latest tomorrow but maybe tonight depending how long and how far I get on them.

I really like where you're headed with the Tau. Even without the rusty and worn look (that it sounds like you're not into any more) I think the overall color scheme works well and fits nicely between anime/sci-fi and real world military genres... not leaning too hard in either direction.

I have a tau army myself and know how long the suits can take (way more than one would think, at least for the first couple). It's tough not to fall into procrastination-mode before you have one finished and get an idea of how neat the rest will look.

Keep up the good work and you'll have an awesome looking tau army in addition to that great templar army you have going.

Cheers!

Here are the Fire Warriors almost done. I need to hit the red with a little orange highlight, and i just picked up the shadow grey for the faces this evening. So, by tomorrow evening i hope to be completely done with the fire warriors. That will leave me plenty of time during my two days off before Saturday to get everything up to where i want it. Here is the picture of them. Feel free to zoom in and see all my mess-ups

Nice!

The city rubble looks really great and the contrast with the brighter tones of the figures makes them really pop. That unit came together quite quickly... Can't wait to see what you accomplish in the upcoming days off.

Cheers...

Thanks! I was really hoping the brighter colors would draw the eye away from the fact that there was so much grey on the model/base. I am pretty confident the rotting flesh stands out enough to accomplish that.

As for the upcoming days off... I will have to tackle those Crisis suits. I am somewhat dreading it but I'm sure I'll come up with something. Shoot, half the time just pick up a brush and see what comes to me. That's where the rust came from but I think I will like chips more than rust. We will just have to see though

Here's my most of the way done Crisis Suit. I am using the shoulder pads to differentiate between fire warrior suits, so i decided to use the head of the suit to show each individual crisis team.

It isnt completly done, there are still some touch ups that need to be made.

The other suit will have a different color head than this one because it will be a in a different squad from this one.

PS: Happy Thanksgiving Dakka!

Ok guys, im not neglecting my PLOG, just busy. I will be busy this upcoming week also. I will be at a Security+ plus class all week, then taking the test on saturday. Then will be digging back into everything after that. Plus, i have taken 2.5 weeks off from work for christmas/new years (except that i have duty on christmas day , gotta love uncle sam), so i should get lots done over then.

Today i picked up some stuff to do some molds/casting. I have read through the articles here and i finally have gathered the courage to try it out. I will be casting some crisis weapons (i never seem to have enough of what need...). Plus, i need to redo the CIB and the AFP, the pewter is too heavy to work well with the magnets i am using (1/16 in. cube) they just dont have the strength to hold them firmly, so they flop around. All I have left to get is the legos and a little wax paper. I plan to give this a try this evening and maybe some this week if study doesn't run over too late. If things turn out well i will post some pictures.

Thank you all! Im hoping to get back into them this week now that I am done with Security +. The class last week was a horrible, week long, cram session. It was several weeks of class material compressed into 4 days.

I have decided i am going to try and paint a whole new 1500 points rather than using my painted 500. This way i will have more painted stuff since i have models far beyond what i ever forsee this TOMG going. But that is just a goal as of now. I will have to sit down and work on them to decide if it will actually work out that way.
