I play mechanized orks: I have Ghazghkull, a squad of burna boyz, and lots of boyz in squads of 12. I've rolled a battlewagon up to a squad of plague marines, and had my burna boys drop 15 templates out the side onto them, causing 190 or so hits. After all was said and done with wounding, armor saves, and feel no pain, 2/20 lived.

You got 13 under the flamer template? That's pretty extreme, even with tank shocking them into a bunch (which only works if your guessed move distance ends with you in the middle of them). And even with 190 hits, on average you'd only get 10.56 kills, not 18.

On a more reasonable 8 under the template (120 hits) you'd be looking at 6.67 dead. Not as impressive. (and charging them with power weapons gets approx the same result) It is pretty safe though since the burnas have done that whilst staying mounted. A great softener before a unit of boyz hits them.

9 kanz with grotzookas is the same cost as 20 PMs. The zookas are suprisingly effective getting around 4 kills (difficult to estimate blast markers - very dependant on deployment) In combat they're pretty rocking, killing 11 on the charge and being very hard for the PMs to hurt back.

Dashofpepper wrote: Green tide.....30 boys putting 60 shots and following it up with 90 attacks on the charge will do some damage too.
1.11 kills from the shooting and 2.5 from the CC attacks or 4 if you've got a claw. It's not bad but it's not great. They will win but will take 10+ casualties doing so and be tied up for a couple of turns. That's assuming that they get there untouched. It does work but it's suprising how little all those shots and attacks does.

I have to admit, I miss the old Infantry battles of 4E compared to this 5E wonderland of APCs/IFVs everywhere. It's like we jumped from WWI to WWII.
