Fateweaver wrote:My point Sid, and one H was quick to pounce on and get snide with me is that I, being a US citizen, would rather support a US business (the Warstore) over giving my money to a company based in the UK thus helping a foreign entity over a US entity.

Apparently it's wrong in H's eyes that I want to do that and he felt the need to take yet ANOTHER cheap jab at my beliefs.

Ah yes, but TRUE Americans believe in Capitalism. And since Maelstrom is considered a better store, it should win out, which is capitalism.

You obviously don't, so you're not a true American. And Michael Moore doesn't believe in capitalism either, so you're as bad as he is.

Maelstrom being better is a matter of opinion. A TRUE American is a nationalist, the idea a TRUE American believes in supporting foreign economics is a slap in the face to any US based Labor Union or any US worker working in a US factory.

I also don't see how my posts raise people ire toward me. I didn't preach that the Warstore is a better store. I just said why I shop there and really doing the math of free shipping vs paying Neal $5.95 to ship me out an $84 Battleforce (the price of the new 'Nid one on Dec. 5th) I think I will swallow the extra $6. It will also get to me faster. So I'm paying $6 to get an order in 2-3 days priority vs like 7 days overseas. If I want an order from Maelstrom in 2 days I'm sure I'd have to Express Mail it overseas which can't be less than $6 and it's not guaranteed in 2 days.

So once again another cheap jab at my feeling toward my country, from a fellow American no less. I suppose next you will tell me I'm not a true American because I don't like Obama?

I've apparently been unofficially warned publicly about my posts by a mod. I might just be tempted to start hitting my own "report" button as well on some people.

On topic - is Malestrom an exotic dancing group you have in your neck of the woods OP?

Off topic [apologies] @Fateweaver, I would suggest moving away from the term nationalism and towards patriotism may help with the barbed responses you get.

Supporting your country is a good thing and for the sake of $6 I would agree with you. Supporting you country at the expense of others is where nationalism come in to the equation and is the ugly side of the penny that peole are objecting to. There is of course the whole Globalisation thing and how we are all interconnected etc but we'll not go there for now!

In the rest of the world [and i'm sure in the US as well] the term nationalism is quite often represented by the more extreme portions of society; In the Uk we have the BNP - British National Party - an unpleasant minor party of quasi-fasist/racists, in France they have the FN - Front National [National Front funnily enough, damm Frenchies and thier strange language!] and who can forget the National Socialist Party of Germany, but enough about them don't want to set off a Godwyn alarm [WOOOO, WOOOO - Dammit!].

I for one encourage your support of your country but you might want to be careful of you wording, some of it come quite close to American Stereotypes held by some.

So to recap Patriotism good, Nationalism Bad.

[FYI the Right to bear Arms bit probably doesn't help with the stereotypical impression - but I suspect you don't care old bean; notprop sips tea, sits back to read the Times and harkens back to Empire!]

Fish or cut bait. I can't imagine anyone here cares enough that you have to announce it.

As for stuff that actually matters, Maelstrom is an excellent store if you're outside the U.S. Otherwise, between the exchange rate and smaller discount, even with free shipping Maelstrom will come out somewhere from only a couple dollars less expensive than the warstore to a couple dollars more.

I don't believe I've ever used the term Nationalist to portray myself, that moniker has been given to me by non-US citizens (and some US citizens).

I am very patriotic.

So yeah, I'm not declaring myself a Nationalist but I do declare I'm a patriot. We cleared up?
