Tanya uses dual pistols.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Everytime my orks have faced marbo, they suck up the demo charge hit, take their bumps and then kill him in HTH. He really seems like a waste of points.

Looks like I'll be working Marbo into my list.

Who is this Tanya has anyone done a conversion?

I was thinking Marbo as Solid Snake from Metal Gear.

She's from the game Red Alert.

...although the original C&C was way better.

Build a fire for a man and he will be warm for a day; set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain.

Sly Marbo doesn't go to ground, the ground comes to him.

-Marbo once got in a fight with a Squat over a gambling debt. Tyranids was just the cover story.

-Once while travelling through the warp, Marbo's ship was attacked by the warp Daemons. It is said that warp travel was safe for the next three months

-Some believe that terminator armour was originally designed as a Marbo-proof chastity belt for young imperial women. It failed miserably

-The Tau voluntarily abandoned their world of N'dras because of a reported Marbo sighting

-The First and Only time Marbo hunted on the world of Tanith...

-Marbo only follows the Emperor because he believes the Emperors real name is Chuck Norris

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake.

For the points, Marbo is a steal. I hate having to fight against him.

That's because orks are one of the few armies that doesn't care much about a str 8 ap2 large blast showing up on their doorstep. One of the beautiful facets of ork army design is the capability to make a very destructive army without any targets that are of particularly higher value than the others.

Unless you are fighting a nob biker army...which seems to be about 90% of the ork armies I fight

You can't just insert marbo into a chuck norris joke, it has to have a 40k flavour to it. I'll try:

Sly Marbo once executed a Lord Commissar for making fart jokes about Sly's Ripper Pistol.

Someone once tried to tell Sly Marbo that he could no longer consolidate into close combat. Sly Marbo ripped him limb from limb and consolidated into his mother.

Even though I love C&C, Sly Marbo should not be compared to Tanya. Sly Marbo is an Anagram for Sly Stalone/ Rambo. Marbo kicks arse for his point cost.

In my latest tourney the AGENT (my marbo) lobbed the demo charge into Ghazskull's unit consisting of armored meganobz....and that was instrumental in contributing to the sitauation that by the end of that shooting phase ghaz was reduced to 1 wound, and only 1 armored meganob remained........

part of using Marbo successfully is to know which targets to lob the demo charge against. However, the fact that the unit wasted it's next turn assaulting marbo for me is also good since assuming that unit did not do a multiple assault then in effect the ork player wasted his turn on marbo.

Marbo is amazing. I play semi-mech, and in 1500+ I run both Marbo and a Callidus Assassin. It really screws with my opponents' deployment and playstyle - they can't clump things together in fear of Kirk's - Marbo's (gun modelled so it looks like a cross between laspistol and ST phaser) demo charge, and may put things in reserve they'd normally keep on board, for example.

You come in cover, throw the charge, then go to ground to hopefully keep an enemy squad shooting at you for a turn or two and not advancing. If your opponent has a single troop choice guarding a faraway objective, you can take them out.

Callidus does the same thing, but better (especially with Weaken Resolve/Neural Shredder shenanigans).

They make an otherwise somewhat generic mech Guard list interesting, and I'd like to recommend you include Marbo and some deepstrikers/outflankers to screw with your opponent if nothing else.

Marbo is a must in any Imperial guard Army, he not only messes with your enemy's head making them always wonder when and where his coming out
and he does have a chance of changing the tide againest the enemy turning a losing game into to a draw or even a WIN
which is always nice
