Ok. I've been working on some of these for a while - the shields and weapons are from the Chaos Warriors sprue. I realised reaching 10k worth of infantry means taking some fun, but possibly overcosted units. This unit is worth 567 points with Frost Blades and Storm Shields, so it makes a nice dent, and happens to look awesome.

I was thinking that these could be the shield bretheren of Ragnar - those who protect him when he is going rargh across the battlefield.

Sorry for the blur on that one.

And now with jump packs - the head with the scar is actually from the Chaos Terminator sprue, sticking from one of the spikes.

Same sprue, different head from one of the shoulder spikes

Now this Rune Priest is holding a book from the Chaos Lord sprue (needs to be cleaned a bit more), with SW Legs, SM Torso, Veteran head, Wolf Guard Terminator Thunder Hammer for the base of the staff and part of the musician instrument from the High Elf Seaguard sprue for the top of the staff - I'm going to paint it with the eyes and mouth glowing like its going to shoot out lightning and fire - I thought it would be a very wolfy thing to incorporate a trophy like that into his weapon.

And here is a rune priest - that blurry thing he is pointing is a SW Thunder Hammer with the aquilla from the Veteran banner on top. Im going to go for an electric arc playing across it.

And there we have part one of my recent builds - I've got a delayed bits order in, so I'm going for another 30 or so marines.

By the by - I'm interested in obtaining the following - Dark Elf Shields (Warriors, Cold Ones), Fantasy Chaos shields (Warriors, Knights, Marauders) and the Chaos Knight weapons, especially the lances, Tomb Kings shields, Vampire Count Grave Guard shields, even Lizardmen shields, and any other decently sized fantasy shields out there. The Dwarf/Goblin/Orc/Skeleton/Bretonnian shields seem too small for my needs - but if you have anything that I'm looking for to finish off my army, I'm more than happy to make a bits trade, or buy it straight. And I'm certainly happy to buy in bulk. I've even got some spare Wolf Guard TH/SS to trade for it- and those seem to be worth a damn bit these days. Please PM me.

I like that alot, you have a load of terminators, it would be awsome to field those in a single planetstrike game, good luck with the painting

I would like it too - I've only ever used 5 in a game so far. I guess I need to find new opponents in southern Sydney, huh?

Yeah, I'm working on it - Rome wasn't built in a day :p

Mainly, I've got to get myself an airbrush, or pay someone to airbrush them for me. After that, I'm going to get stuck in.

Ok, I started last night - have to make a 1500 point list to take to a doubles tournament in Wagga Wagga in August. Though due to the ally rules, I may have to paint 3000 points so my brother can play as well if he can't get his GK's going.

So I started last night - Adeptus battlegrey on a black basecoat, which went on so smoothly I was amazed. Drybrush with codex grey, hardlined with fortress grey, and then washed with a really thinned down Chaos Black into joints, and Badab Black onto the lower parts of the armor itself. I think I might really wash down a codex grey to run over the bolter as well over the black to give it a slightly weathered look as the hardlining on that wasn't so crash hot. I should have pics up tonight, or at minimum tomorrow.

I have just painted the first squad - for those who don't know, I'm competing in a doubles Apoc tournament in August. so I've decided to get a start on my army. I'll be painting the full 3,000 points and splitting it with my brother, Ehsteve, who is another Dakka member.

This squad is almost entirely composed of stripped ebay models, some parts remodeled/switched by myself, so the detail on them wasn't the best to begin with, but I'm pretty happy.

The scheme is - Black primer, Adeptus Battlegrey basecoat, heavy drybrush with Codex Grey, light highlights/hardlining with fortress grey, with either a Badab Black wash or really thinned Chaos Black wash. Shoulderpads are Mechrite Red, followed by Blood Red, with a Badab wash. The aquilla/wolf symbols etc are first heavy drybrushed with Ice Blue, with a Shining Gold overlay to bring out the effect - I'll try and post better pics to show you what I mean.

So here we go, apologies for sideways pictures I forgot to alter. Also, some are with flash, some without - I'm hoping to make some daylight pictures when I'm off of the late shift. Damned IT industry.

Sorry about the last 2 sideways - tilt your head?

That is the shot - I'm going to highlight/shade the eyes a bit, but I'm pretty happy for a tabletop standard. Especially with not much time to spare. Comments, corrections, criticism and tips welcome and expected.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I also made a few more cheap Wolf Guard - 33 points for Terminator Armor, a storm bolter and a power sword isn't bad in my opinion.

So here they are - this is a Wolf Lord or a Wolf Guard Battle Leader etc.

Major update time.

Please leave any and all feedback - much appreciated.

After 4 months of on and off work, interrupted by every conceivable force known to man, I've painted the first 3000 points of the army. I think I have achieve a good tabletop standard, which I think is pretty good for the first models I have painted more than 5 of in an army. Total of 57 infantry, 11 tanks.

This is the apoc army I am taking to Wagga Wagga for the 40k Doubles Tournament.

I can provide close up pics if required of any model (I took a photo of each one individually as well as group shots)

The entire ground force

Closeups of the terminators, plus the rune priest.

Long Fangs

Grey Hunters

More Long Fangs

Wolf Scouts and Long Fangs

More of the same

Terminators/Rune Priest

3rd Squad long fangs

Other Wolf Guard squad with another Rune Priest

Now for the tanks - touch up work required etc - all but the first two of the photos are taken in my model cupboard. Note the color scheme - the red ones are for grey hunters, ice blue for long fangs, astro grey for support tanks, yellow for blood claws and gold or black for wolf guard.

Now for the Vindicators

Note on the lead tank there is some bleed from the grey on the siege shield - this will be fixed up shortly. And snow added.

So there we have it!

Again, please leave any and all feedback - much appreciated.

I'd say the colours are almost perfect for Space Wolves.
I love the way you've colour coded the vehicles as well and great conversion work good luck in painting them all.

This is the older paint scheme (Horus Heresy style scheme) - thundercloud grey, so to speak. Tales of Heresy and A Thousand Sons describes it well.

Anyway, thanks for the kind comments!
