Also check out Angels of Darkness, the final book in the penal legion trilogy also by Gav Thorpe, most of the HH novels... There are plenty of others as well.

..cracking read it is too.

Dark Apostle?
It is a cracking read indeed. Seemed to follow the Storm of Iron plot line slightly, but was still pretty good.
Shame about the sequel.

"And what are the achievements of your fragile Imperium? It is a corpse rotting slowly from within while maggots writhe in its belly. It was built with the toil of heroes and giants, and now it is inhabited by frightened weaklings to whom the glories of those times are half-forgotten legends."

The sink.

It's an ultramarines book so I think we know who's going to win that one.

On a side note, anyone read Dark Creed? Was it better than Dark Disciple?

Have you guys read the "Heroes of the Space Marines" short story collection. There is a short story in there that pretty much tells you what happens.

Spoiler:
The story "Skull Harvest" takes place after Honsou has had a run-in with Ventris and friends. In that story Honsou has a companion that is implied to have been created from the gene-seen of Uriel Ventris. Honsou is also sporting a spiffy new mechanical arm that is exceptionally tough, heals itself, and was taken from a fallen ultramarine. I suppose it could be coincidence, but it sound like Pasanius to me.

Then again he also mentions that he is gathering an army to lead against Ultramar, so maybe I am missing something and this is just foreshadowing.

From Iron, cometh Strength. From Strength, cometh Will. From Will, cometh Faith. From Faith, cometh Honour. From Honour, cometh Iron. This is the Unbreakable Litany, and may it forever be so

A white dwarf featured an extract of said novel where yes indeed a chaos fleet has attacked one of the Ultramar system planets.

Yes, the arm is from Pesanius.

Yes, that Marine is the evil clone of Uriel.

And while the Ultras will see through the day, I'm sure Honsou will do plenty of great things, though I doubt he can top the part where he kicks a sleeping Bloodthirster in the face and calls it lazy.

I'm pretty sure we already knew that from one of the "Ultramarine" books.

Most of it anyway...

No green edging on the armour any more? I suppose he was a little drab for a captain previously though.

They do, but they're comparatively rare. The bare head for the Devastator Sergeant, for example, has a buzzcut.
