Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

I surprised DE have only received one negative post so far. Granted, I think they're an good concept that needs to be fleshed out some more, but normally the DE hatred is pretty thick.

Space Marines of all flavors would be fine, except you end up playing them so much, and they draw so much attention away from other codexes, that they do get overexposed and frustrating.

Eldar were certainly annoying last edition, with the nigh-indestructible falcons, but aren't so bad now that they're more reasonable.

Ill add a DE post. The codex needs updated pretty badly.

I disagree with Kyoto though, I think a 'glass hammer' army can fit in well with the other styles of play. It just needs good rules support and a clever designer to make it work well.

It could be worse, you could be on fire.

space marines are too cheap for what they are? please.

the only possibly underpriced unit in the SM codex are assault terminators, and even then its doubtful, because they are useless without an overpriced land raider. your basic tac marine costs what, 16 points?

lets look at races who have more cost efficient basic troops-

chaos (plague marines)
daemons (bloodletters)
guard (veterans)
sisters (lol sisters)
eldar (dire avengers)
orks (boyz, nobz)
nids (genestealers)

all these troops I listed above are either cheaper than marines and more survivable in cover, or similarly priced, but far better at their role. marines are jacks of all trades, but masters at none.

Pure awesome.

Should have said: "Hell no, 40k is for children, Gothapotamus. Real men play Fantasy." The ensuring gakstorm of nerdrage would have been his exercise for that month/decade and probably added valuable years of FLGS-pontificating to his otherwise snack-shortened lifespan.

I was going to start an Orc army.....

As a result i play Ultramarines almost exclusively.

Hahahahahaha. That's awesome. I love Space Marines, but I won't play Blueberries because I think they're too easy to paint. Blue, blue, a bit of white, scribble in white in a few places, slap an upside down horseshoe somewhere, maybe add some curlicues for embellishment, profit.

I think the closest army I 'hate' is Necrons, because FOR GODSAKES THEY JUST WON'T LAY DOWN AND DIE.

I decided I didn't like Orks because my ex was going to play them. He can get stuffed.

I want to play Sisters, but holy expensive models and old-arsed Codex is lose. ): Some day...

Angels of Nezeria (Dark Angels successor chapter)
Tau Marines: Defectors to the Tau Empire (let the nerdrage begin!)

I love Guard, Eldar and Dark Eldar (the latter the most right now). All hail Toughness 3 and skimmers!

I really dislike (Chaos) Space Marines of all varieties. Too boring, too many playing them, and pretty much every novel that comes out ouzes Space Marine propaganda

I voted for...

Black Templars and blood angels. I just dislike these armies, and I feel they dont need their own codexs.

necrons-Bad rules writing can lead to rules arguments, can be annoying to play against.

orks-specifically horde/nob bikers. I have little respect for players who run armies that only do one thing.

Kinda odd that you react to being stereotyped by jumping right into the stereotype that some stranger made for you. Maybe I'm just stubborn but I would have made it a point to show him how idiotically wrong he is. Claiming that physical appearance has something to do with what army somebody plays is the high road to looking like a moron... Until you decide to prove them right.

I hate anything in power armor. GW has failed to differentiate the chapters to any degree worthy if it's own codex, yet they all get one. And they're called "SPACE MARINES" ffs. What a dumb name. The word 'space' just oozes with cheesy 50s sci-fi B-movie ardor.
Oh and I dislike Orks. Not on general principal, I just don't think they belong in the sci-fi genre. They haven't translated well imo.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.

Point seemed to be that Beardy McFacepiercings was the actual stereotype.

So without "space", the marines would suit your taste?

Easy solution, call them by their names:

- Blood Angels
- Dark Angels
- Black Templars
- Imperial Fists
- Crimson fists
- Iron Hands
- Raven Guard
- White scars
- Salamanders
- Ultramarines

except the sons of russ, not much space inside........

Zing!

Seriously, though, 1hadhq, you don't like Eldar just a little? I think they take the fantasy elf trope and give it a fuller, more interesting expression.

Oh i do like the elfen maidens a lot.....

I do accept GW put a ton of fantasy into 40k and therfore installed all the wellknown races.
Would just prefer the game beiing shootier with all those guns around...

But, instead of hating someones choice of army specific, I do just follow orders and erase all the xenos scum of this galaxy to have mankind fulfill its destiny to rule.

And the dark elfs in space have no malus darkblade.

Big drawback.

So the kill priority list goes:

  • #Fishy
    #traitors
    #bugs
    #other xenos
    #victims of friendly fire

  • Would this put me against elfs ?
    Maybe sometimes.

Plus, the SPACE marines have the iron snakes, who are so awesome , any dark elf dies on the spot.

I have yet to run into one at mine. I'm sure he's there, somewhere, but so far I've lucked out and haven't really run into him. I was getting a few 'Girls don't play 40k' looks, until I showed up with 2700ish points of mostly painted Space Marines; then pretty much everyone started taking me seriously. I'm just sad that yesterday's games didn't happen for lack of players showing up to the store. Curse you, holiday season.

The next time I play, I'll probably end up having to play Necrons again. Argh. Stupid things just won't lay down and die...

Nids, but they're not listed. Probably mostly due to having to listen to the whiners who only play Stealer Shock/Nidzilla say that they just can't compete with the newer books.

I'm surprised the Fanboys/Apologists/term of the week aren't all taking their cue from the studio and saying Dark Angels...I just went there, didn't I?

Necrons. There is no difference between armies.

GW needs to update them or stop pretending to care and set them alongside DE in still legal, but unsupported obscurity so they can give more room for the Spezz Mareenz. WH and DH are close to this fate as well.
I think I should start sending letters writtin in goats' blood until they start updating 3rd ed first.
