Ok, with the purchase of photo shop, I thought it might be time for an update on the dwarves, not only for comments on the dwarves themselves but also on the pictures.

So, as far as progress goes, I have finished all of the skin on these guys for all 10 of them. The rest are in various stages of completion. Three of them have received tattoos, which hopefully the pictures will represent well. This is the direction I am going with these dwarves, so let me know what you think. Also, picture advice is very helpful.

This picture I am not sure if I am happy with, though I can't put my finger on what. I suppose it still seems to be a bit blurry, which is increasingly the case when there is more then one model in the shot.

These three are all done just a bit different, with different levels of brightness.

Doots: Give in to the temptation mate.

Ed Bodger: Well, a doff back to you mate, thanks.

Gitsplitta: Thanks.

endtransmission: The cool thing about the hobby, you can buy more.

Very nice work on the bases- the detail on the Weapons is sweet as well

Well.... it has been over a year since I have done any serious painting. I am officially blaming work for this indiscretion... and moving across the country. In order to ease myself back into it, I picked up some half finished mini's from the Games Workshop 7th edition release... you remember, the really cheap plastic dwarfs.

Anyway, here they are... adding them to the dwarf army.

On CMON: Dwarf Handgunners

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I also added another 6 Crossbowmen, fleshing the unit out to 16.

So, on to some more detail business. I started working on this guy a year ago, so I figure it is about time to finish him. He is in the same boat as my Ogre Tyrant, probably will be completely done sometime next week, depending on how much actual painting I get in this week... so that means about a week to hit me with critiques on what to do better.

I have added some color to him, hoping to bring out some character. The blue paint on his face and arms, the gems, and the green dye in his hair... let me know what else (besides the bits that are still not done, like the fur wrap around is center) I can do to make him stand out... Thanks!

I am working on some of the other army stuff as well... finishing out a unit of 20 Empire Handgunners (5 more to go), a unit of 20 skeletons (10 more to go), and I am just about ready to primer Skarsnik for painting...

nice painting
At first I didn't even realize those were the skullpass minis! Looking great.

The green hair + battle painting is a nice idea, I wouldn't add additional colors or he'll look like a clown What you could do though is adding some color to the ornaments of the axe-blades. Maybe some silver-blueish color or just a light silver. That would draw away a bit of the focus from surrounding units to him, because there is more area thats "interesting". That would also let the back appear more interesting. In comparison to the front this area has lesser focus. You could also give his back a bit of battle painting.
Nevertheless nice mini!

So, a little work got done this week, but I think he is definitely getting there. I changed some things around, to better tie in the colors. Another few hours of painting and I might be able to call him done... Any other tips or suggestions?

Snake: Thanks for the tip mate... I took you up on the blue for the axeheads... though I still think they need some work.

That blue worked wonders! nice work
Though the blue looks too "flat" imo... maybe add a few more highlights. Let it sparkle

Ok, going to call him done now... as always I would like to do more with him... but at some point you have to move on. I am not completely happy with the axeheads and I tried a few new techniques for the gems that I am not totally sold on... in any case, without further ado...

AT CMON: Logan Battlefury

As a side note, I updated the story line at the very beginning of the thread for those of you who are reading that...

Campbell: Thanks mate!

Snake: Did what I could... not much of an NMM kind of guy... but I used the metallics to represent the effect... don't think it came out that well though :(

Nah don't be so hard on yourself! This is one seriously nice-looking miniature! The blue really rounds it up nicely! Good job!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Got the first rank of Slayers done...

So... what else is on the table...

Orcs and Goblins: Working the robes on skarsnik.
Empire: Basecoated the last rank of handgunners and prepped the movement tray for painting.
Beasts: Still haven't really done anything with these... so primed and ready to paint when I feel the tug.
Mortals of Chaos: Getting the next two ranks of marauders pinned into place.
Skeletons: Close to being done with the third rank. Trying a green eye glow thing that I am not convinced of yet.

And, whats next for the dwarves is the second rank of slayers:

Snake: Thanks for the encouragement mate!

Finally done ... spent the last two weeks in the field, so I don't really count that time against me.

So, here they are:

So, what else has been getting done:

Vampires: Almost done with the last rank of skeles, just need to finish up the wood and bases, and make a 20 slot base for them.

Ogres: Almost done with the first rank of ogres. Painted the banner up, finished all three pants, all skin. Need to do tattoos still, and the metal bits need a good rusting.

Orcs and Goblins: Getting much closer to being done with skarsnik, did the wood bits, fixed the gobbla scales and horn parts. Still need to do the bone bits on skarsniks head piece and disgustify the inside of gobbla's mouth. Also the dwarf beard bits on skarsniks front side still need to be done.

Daemons: re-basing the daemon prince... was originally going to do an all lava base... but I really don't think I would like how that would look across a board in an army... instead I think I will do land with bits of lava bursting thru.

Mortals of Chaos: Skin started on the third rank of marauders.

Skaven: Painting the base, almost done. Also started the skin on the rat monstrosity.

Beasts: No prgress,

Empire: Basing the first of the knights panter. Ready for primer.

Dwarfs: Up next will be:

Bardal the Mad

Yay slayers. Looking good there.

Is it bad that I keep misreading the title as dwarven thong?

Well, finally got him done. Not sure how happy I am with him, but time to move on.
